This chapter describes how to delete managed elements and managed objects in CDM. You can delete a Cisco DSLAM chassis or you can delete individual modules. When you delete a chassis object, you also delete all modules, interfaces, connections, and profiles within that chassis. You can only delete a chassis if it is decommissioned, which means that all active management has ceased. You can also delete individual modules, ports, and other managed entities including individual subscribers.
This chapter includes the following sections:
To delete a DSLAM chassis as a managed element and all the objects that are associated with it, complete these steps:
Step 2 From the left side of the Map Viewer window, right-click C6100v30TrapMgmt---[Name of chassis] to access the object menu.
Step 3 Choose Deployment > Delete Objects.
The Deployment Wizard, which is shown in Figure 6-1, opens.
Step 4 Click Finish to delete the selected chassis.
The Action Report window opens to inform you that this DSLAM chassis has been deleted or if the action has failed.

Caution Only use the Deployment Wizard Delete Objects feature to delete a chassis at the top level. When you delete a managed element in this way, CDM deletes all of the managed objects within that managed element. To delete individual modules, follow the instructions in the "Deleting ATU-C and Flexi Modules" section. |
To delete individual ATU-C and Flexi modules, you open the associated window, then choose which modules you want to delete of that type. Follow these steps to delete individual modules:

Note Before you delete a module, you must lock that module or verify that it is locked. To lock a module, open the appropriate Status/Configuration Dialog window for that type of module, use the down arrow to select locked in Administrative Status field, then click Set Data. |
The [Module Type] Status/Configuration/Delete Dialog window for that type of module opens, which is shown in Figure 6-2.
Step 2 From the left side of the window, select the modules that you want to delete from the chassis.
To verify which module you are deleting, use the tabs on the right side of the window. The Board Info/Status tab and the Port/Slot Info tab display information about the module that is highlighted on the left side of the window.
Step 3 Click Delete Module to delete the module or modules that you have highlighted.
Step 4 Click Yes in the confirmation dialog box.
An Action Report window opens to inform you that the module or modules have been deleted.

Note You cannot delete individual ports. |
When you need to delete managed objects other than those in the "Deleting ATU-C and Flexi Modules" section, you must access the status/configuration/delete windows in a slightly different way.

Note Before you delete a module, you must lock that module or verify that it is locked. To lock a module, open the appropriate Status/Configuration Dialog window for that type of module, use the down arrow to select locked in Administrative Status field, then click Set Data. |

Note You cannot delete a System Controller Module. |
Instructions for deleting other types of modules are given in the following sections:
To delete a network interface module, complete the following steps:
Step 2 Choose Open NI Module Configuration Dialog.
The Network Interface Configuration/Delete Dialog window, which is shown in Figure 6-4, opens.
Step 3 Click Delete NI Module.
Step 4 Click Yes in the confirmation dialog box.
An Action Report window opens to inform you whether the deletion was successful.
Step 5 Click Save to save this information to a log file, or click Close to close the Action Report window.
This section includes instructions for deleting a line controller chassis.

Note Before you can delete a line controller chassis, the Administrative status of the LIM controller must be locked. Verify or set this status on the LIM Controller Status/Configuration window in the Board Status area before you complete the steps in this section. |
To delete a line controller chassis, complete the following steps:
Step 2 Choose Open LC Chassis Configuration/Delete Dialog.
The LC Chassis Configuration/Delete Dialog window, which is shown in Figure 6-6, opens.
Step 3 Click Delete LC Chassis.
Step 4 Click Yes in the confirmation dialog box.
An Action Report window opens to inform you whether the deletion was successful.
Step 5 Click Save to save this information to a log file or click Close to close the Action Report window.
To delete a line controller module, complete the following steps:
Step 2 Choose Open LIM Controller Status/Configuration/Delete Dialog.
The LIM Controller Status/Configuration/Delete Dialog window, which is shown in Figure 6-7, opens.
Step 3 Click Delete LIM Controller Module.
Step 4 Click Yes in the confirmation dialog box.
An Action Report window opens to inform you whether the deletion was successful.
Step 5 Click Save to save this information to a log file or click Close to close the Action Report window.
This section includes instructions for deleting a line interface module (LIM). The Administrative status of the LIM must be set to locked before you delete it.
Complete these steps to delete a LIM:
Step 2 Choose Open Line Interface Module Status/Configuration/Delete Dialog from the object menu.
The Line Interface Module Status/Configuration Delete Dialog window, which is shown in Figure 6-8, opens.
Step 3 From the list on the left side of the window, highlight the LIM that you want to delete.
Step 4 Click Delete Line Interface Module.
Step 5 Click Yes in the confirmation dialog box.
An Action Report window opens to inform you whether the LIM has been deleted successfully.
To delete an STU-C module, complete the following steps:
Step 2 Choose Open STU-C Module Status/Configuration/Delete Dialog.
The STU-C Module Configuration/Delete Dialog window, which is shown in Figure 6-10, opens.
Step 3 Click Delete STU-C Module.
Step 4 Click Yes in the confirmation dialog box.
An Action Report window opens to inform you whether the deletion was successful.
Step 5 Click Save to save this information to a log file or click Close to close the Action Report window.
To delete a logical pool, complete the following steps:
The LPool Create/Delete/Info Dialog window, which is shown in Figure 6-11, opens.
Step 2 Click the LPool/Info Delete tab.
Step 3 From the area on the top left side of the window, choose the Physical Pool from which you want to delete a logical pool.
Step 4 From the area on the bottom left side of the window, choose the Logical Pool that you want to delete.
Step 5 Click Delete Logical Pool.
Step 6 Click Yes in the confirmation dialog box.
An Action Report window opens to inform you whether the deletion was successful.
Step 7 Click Save to save this information to a log file or click Close to close the Action Report window.
You can also delete individual subscribers from a managed element (DSLAM chassis). You can delete subscribers from ATU-C modules, from STU-C modules, from DMT-2 modules, and you can delete transit subscribers in subtended configurations. This section includes instructions for deleting any type of subscriber.
Complete the following steps to delete a subscriber:
Step 2 From the Navigation menu, choose Open Subscriber Status/Configuration/Delete Dialog.
The Subscriber Status/Configuration Dialog window, which is shown in Figure 6-12, opens.
Step 3 Click the Subscriber Delete/Performance tab.
Step 4 From the left side of the window, highlight the subscribers that you want to delete.
Hold down the shift key to select more than one subscriber.
Step 5 Click Delete Subscriber to delete the subscribers that you have selected.
Step 6 Click Yes in the confirmation dialog box to proceed.
An Action Report window opens to inform you whether the subscribers that you selected were deleted.
Step 7 Click Yes to save this information to a log file, or click Close to close the window.
This section includes instructions for deleting subscriber PVCs. See the "Configuring ATM Virtual Channels and Subscriber PVCs" section for information and instructions for creating subscriber PVCs.
Complete the following steps to delete subscriber PVCs:
Step 2 Choose Open System/Commission/Decommission/Config Sync from the object menu to open the System/Commission/Decommission/Config Sync window.
Step 3 Choose Open Subscriber PVC Operations from the Navigation menu to open the PVC/Info/Create/Delete Dialog window, which is shown in Figure 6-13.
Step 4 Click the PVC Info/Delete tab, which is shown in Figure 6-14.
Step 5 On the left side of the PVC Info/Create/Delete Dialog window, highlight the subscriber whose PVC settings you want to delete; for example, click C6100v30SubscriberInfo-4 to highlight it.
Step 6 After you verify that the Subscriber ID that you have highlighted on the left is the one you want to delete, note the PCV index number for this subscriber as it is listed in the PVC Index field in the top of the PVC Info/Delete tab.
Step 7 Enter this index number in the PVC Index field in the Delete PVC group box, and then click Delete PVC.
Step 8 Click Yes in the confirmation dialog box.
If your purpose for deleting this subscriber PVC setting is to modify it, you can now create new settings for that subscriber by following the instructions in the "Creating New VPI/VCI Addresses" section.
