The Cisco Digital Subscriber Line Manager (CDM) provides inventory details for the Cisco DSLAM chassis and each card within the chassis. You can retrieve inventory information within the Map Viewer (Viewer) application by right-clicking either the chassis object or any card (an NI-2 management card or a DMT line card).
This chapter describes how to view the following inventory information:
The Chassis Inventory window allows you to view inventory information for a selected chassis. The Chassis Inventory window contains two tabs: General and Asset Tracking. The General tab provides general details about the specific chassis, and the Asset Tracking tab provides various identification numbers relevant to the specific chassis.
To view the Chassis Inventory window:
The Chassis Inventory window appears (Figure 9-1).

Step 2 Select a chassis from the list box at left (the first chassis object is selected by default.)

The General tab contains five areas:
Chassis Details
The Chassis Details area of the General tab displays the following details:
Chassis ID---Displays the ID of the selected chassis.
Number of Slots---(Field not applicable for CDM.)
Backplane Type---(Field not applicable for CDM.)
Type---Displays the chassis type.
Environmental Monitor Type---(Field not applicable for CDM.)
System Details
The System Details area of the General tab displays the following details:
Host Name---Displays the host name for the selected chassis.
Boot Image Host---Displays the IP address of the host, which supplies the software currently running.
Description---Displays the system's hardware type, software operating system, and networking software of the selected chassis.
ROM ID---Displays the system boot trap description and version identifier.
Domain Name---(Field not applicable for CDM.)
Services---Displays the set of services potentially offered by the selected chassis.
Version Details
The Version Details area of the General tab provides the versions of the different components in the chassis, as follows:
IOS---Displays the version of the IOS commands in the selected chassis.
Software---(Field not applicable for CDM.)
Hardware---Displays the version of the selected chassis.
Firmware---(Field not applicable for CDM.)
PCMCIA Slot Details
The PCMCIA Details area is not applicable for CDM.
Power Supply Details
The Power Supply Details area is not applicable for CDM.
The Asset Tracking tab (Figure 9-2) has one area, Asset Tracking.

The Asset Tracking area of the Asset Tracking tab displays the following details:
Assembly Version---Displays the number assigned by the manufacturer which uniquely identifies the component.
Assembly Number---Displays the manufacturing assembly number, which is the hardware identification.
Software ID---(Field not applicable for CDM.)
Firmware ID---(Field not applicable for CDM.)
Common Language Equipment ID---(Field not applicable for CDM.)
Orderable Part Number---Represents the number used to re-order this component (part number).
Original Equipment Manufacturer---Displays the original equipment manufacturer of the chassis.
The Module Inventory window displays two tabs: General and Asset Tracking. The General tab provides general details about the specific module, and the Asset Tracking tab provides various identification numbers relevant to the specific module.
To view the Module Inventory window:
The Module Inventory window appears (Figure 9-3).

Step 2 From the list boxes at left, select the relevant chassis and module. The status information for the selected module appears at right.

The General tab contains four areas:
Module Details
The Module Details area of the General tab displays the following details for the selected module:
Type---Displays the type of selected module.
Description---Displays a description of the selected module.
Serial Number---Displays the serial number for the selected module.
System Details
The System Details area of the General tab displays the following details for the selected module:
Host Name---Displays the host name for the selected module.
Boot Image Host---Displays the IP address of the host, which supplies the software currently running.
Description---Displays the system's hardware type, software operating system, and networking software of the selected module.

Domain Name---Displays the domain portion of the domain name for the host. (Field not applicable for CDM.)
Services---Displays the services available for the selected module.

The Version Details area of the General tab displays the following details:

Software---Displays the software version installed in the module. No information appears if data is not available.
Hardware---Displays the version of the selected module.
Firmware---Displays the revision of firmware installed on the module.
Slot & Ports
The Slot & Ports area of the General tab displays the following details:
Slot Number---Displays the current slot number location of the selected module within the chassis.
Max. Supported Ports---Displays the maximum number of ports supported by the selected module.
Sub Slot Number---Displays the sub slot number of the selected module. (Field not applicable for CDM.)
Number of Working Ports---Displays the number of currently operational ports on the selected module. (Field not applicable for CDM.)
The Asset Tracking tab has one area, Asset Tracking (Figure 9-4).

The Asset Tracking area of the Asset Tracking tab displays the following details:
Assembly Version---Displays the number assigned by the manufacturer, which uniquely identifies the component.
Assembly Number---Displays the manufacturing assembly number, which is the hardware identification.
Software ID---Displays the software installed on this module. The value to be entered must be a string.
Firmware ID---Displays the revision of firmware installed on this module.
Common Language Equipment ID---Represents the CLEI (Common Language Equipment Identifier) code for the module.
Orderable Part Number---Represents the number used to re-order this component (part number).
Original Equipment Manufacturer---Displays the original equipment manufacturer of the module.
