Performance Manager

Performance Manager

The Cisco Digital Subscriber Line Manager (CDM) Performance Manager displays performance statistics collected during a specified interval for an attribute selected from the list of Monitored Attributes on the Performance Manager window.

Opening the Performance Manager

To open the Performance Manager window:

Step 1 Go to the pop-up menu on the selected OC-3 port or DS3 port.

Step 2 Select Open Performance Manager. The Performance Manager window appears (Figure 8-1).

Performance Manager Tabs

The Performance Manager window contains three tabs:

The information displayed on each tab is as follows:

Line Chart Tab

The Line Chart tab displays a graph (shown in Figure 8-1) with the retrieved data. The X-axis depicts the time at which the polling was done. The Y-axis depicts the value retrieved or the value when the equipment did not respond properly.

Further information regarding the units, attribute and summary rule are provided using appropriate color coding at the top of the chart. Blue represents the values retrieved and red identifies any polled values missed.

Bar Chart Tab

The information on the Bar Chart tab is shown as a Bar Chart with the retrieved data (Figure 8-2).

Table Display Tab

The Table Display tab (Figure 8-3) shows the data retrieved in a tabular format. The first column shows the Time of polling and the second column shows the retrieved values.

Viewing Performance Statistics

To view performance statistics, you must select:

Step 1 Open the Performance Manager window (see
Figure 8-1). The window shows the name of the selected object.

Step 2 From the Monitored Attributes list, select the attribute that you want to monitor.

Note You can select multiple attributes in a list by holding down the shift key and selecting attributes on the list. You can select multiple individual attributes by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking individual items. The information for all selected attributes will be shown in the Table Display. Only the first selected attribute will be shown in the Line Chart or Bar Chart.

Step 3 In the Start Date entry boxes, enter the date on which you wish to begin viewing performance data. The format must be mm/dd/yyyy.

Step 4 Set a start time and an end time using the 24 hour notation. The times are inclusive. In the Start Time data entry boxes enter the time that the view of the performance statistics has to start on the Start Date.

Step 5 To set the End Date, in the End Date entry boxes, enter the date on which you wish to stop viewing performance data. The format must be mm/dd/yyyy.

Step 6 To set the End Time, in the End Time entry boxes, enter the end date on which you wish to stop viewing performance data.

Step 7 From the Sampling drop-down list, select the sampling interval.

Step 8 Click the Refresh button.

Note The Refresh button is blue if it is available for selection. It is grayed out if not available. You can click the Refresh button if a criterion changes. Press the tab key, or move the cursor away from the changed value.

By default, a line chart of the performance information to date appears. You can view performance information in the following formats:

The performance information displayed corresponds to the attributes raw values. If a summary period is selected the information appears according to the summary rule. No summary period is associated with raw data.

Note In some circumstances, possibly due to Cisco EMF being shut down or heavy network load, an object may not be polled. This is a missed poll. All missed polls are indicated on Performance Manager graphs and charts by a yellow point. This shows the last valid value collected. A missed poll affects the summary data and the data may not be reliable.

Performance Manager graphs and charts also indicate when an attribute started and stopped being polled due to history storage criteria being added, edited or removed. Start and Stop polling events are shown in charts and tables:

Note A polling events key appears.
