Before You Begin

This chapter describes the factors that you should consider before installing NATkit 2.0 on a Solaris system and a high-level quick reference of the tasks required.

This chapter contains the following sections:

System Requirements

The system requirements for NATkit 2.0 are summarized in Table 1-1. The requirements listed for NATkit 2.0 are for the server system only. For NATkit 2.0 client system requirements, refer to the "Installing NATkit 2.0" chapter, "Client Requirements" section.

  • 2 GB on the partition on which you intend to install the product (the default is /opt)

  • Sufficient space for downloaded files in the /var directory.

  • Swap space equal to double the amount of memory (RAM). For example, if your system has 256 MB of RAM, you should have 512 MB of swap space.

  • The /tmp directory must be on a swap partition.

System software2

Solaris 2.5.1 or Solaris 2.6 with correct security, Y2K and operational patches.
