The chapter details the hardware and software specifications of the NEMI and the SNMP protocols for the wavelength channel modules (WCMs).

NEMI Hardware

The NEMI software consists of the following:

Software Upgrade

Reprogramming of the Flash memory is available through an Ethernet connection or serial port connection. See the "Transferring a System Update" section.

External Modem Configuration

For dial-in and dial-out use, you have to set up an external modem using AT (Attention) commands on your modem. The settings described in Table 8-1 affect modem performance when calls start and end.

When a WCM is installed, the data marked "Automatic Read" (Table 8-3 and Table 8-4) is automatically supplied to the NEMI.
