This chapter describeas the DEMI and how to install it. The DEMI is a plug-in module that can be inserted into extension chassis A and C of the Cisco Metro 1500 series. This interface provides status and configuration capabilities of the chassis. The DEMI connects the bus of the extension chassis with the NEMI with an external cable and unites management and control of both chassis into a single unit.
Figure 3-1 shows the DEMI front panel. Table 3-1 describes the functions of the LEDs shown in Figure 3-1.

To install the DEMI module, follow these steps:

Step 2 Slide the DEMI into the unit until the connectors on the module come into contact with the backplane connectors. A force of up to 1 lb (4.5 newton) is necessary to push the module completely into the chassis. The green power LED comes on when the DEMI is in contact with the backplane.

Caution It is critical to insert the module gently. If you need a force greater than 1 lb (4.5 newton) to push in the DEMI, stop immediately. |
Step 3 Secure the DEMI in the housing after achieving full contact. Use two screws on the front panel while holding the module in position.
