This section discusses the objectives, intended audience, organization, and conventions of the Catalyst  5000 Series Switch Message and Recovery Guide.

screen font	Terminal sessions and information the system displays are in screen font
[dec]	Decimal
[chars]	Character string
[hex]	Hexadecimal integer
