Catalyst 5509 chassis

Provides support for the following:

  • Supervisor Engines II and III

  • Supports up to eight  additional switching modules (Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, CDDI/FDDI, ATM, and Token Ring)

  • Supports the RSM and RSM/VIP2 modules

  • Supports redundant supervisor engines (Supervisor Engines II and III); redundancy is supported only with like supervisor engines

9-port Gigabit EtherChannel Switching Module (Base unit, WS-X5410)

1000BaseSX GBIC (WS-G5484)
1000BaseLX GBIC (WS-G5485)
1000BaseLH GBIC (WS-G5486)

Provides nine Gigabit Ethernet ports that you can configure with any combination of shortwave (SX), longwave (LX), and long-haul (LH) Gigabit Interface Carriers (GBICs). The module has a 3.6-Gbps connection to the Catalyst 5000 series switch backplane.

Multiprotocol over ATM (MPOA)

Enables the fast routing of internetwork-layer packets across a nonbroadcast, multiaccess (NBMA) network. MPOA replaces multihop routing with point-to-point routing using a direct virtual channel connection (VCC) between ingress and egress edge devices or hosts.

Dynamic Trunking Protocol (DTP)

DTP negotiates with its neighbor port and synchronizes port configuration to be an ISL trunk port or 802.1Q trunk port or an access (non-trunk) port.

Disable receive traffic on SPAN destination port

The set span {src_mod/src_ports | src_vlan} {dest_mod/dest_port} [rx  | tx | both] [inpkts {enable | disable} command is used to enable or disable SPAN and to set up the switch port and VLAN analyzer.
