Each device displayed in Cluster View and Cluster Builder is represented by an icon, label, and color.
To understand what each icon represents, click Legend.
Each device has a label, which displays the host name by default. Address and port connection information can be displayed by clicking Toggle Labels. Both Cluster Builder and Cluster View display IP addresses for devices that have IP addresses assigned; otherwise, MAC addresses are displayed.
Each link has a label that displays port connection information between two devices. The thickness of the link indicates the speed and composition of the link. For more information, click Legend.
The device labels are color coded as follows:
| Label Color | Meaning |
| Blue | Cluster candidate. In Cluster Builder, a blue label indicates a candidate that is fully qualified to become a cluster member. In Cluster View, a blue label indicates a candidate that is disqualified from becoming a cluster member. |
| Green | Cluster member, which includes the command switch and member switches in Cluster Builder and in Cluster View. By default, Cluster View displays the cluster as a double-switch icon and identifies it with its cluster name. You assign the cluster name during the initial setup program, on the CVSM Home page, or through the command-line interface. |
| Yellow | Noncluster-capable device or edge device and shown only in Cluster View. These devices are Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) capable and directly connected to a cluster member. Edge devices include Cisco switches, routers, hubs, or micro-web servers. Edge devices can only be Cisco devices. |
| White | Additional clusters, which are shown only in Cluster View. |
