With the IP Management page, you can:
Note: Before you can use CVSM to manage a single device, you must enter the IP address, mask, and default gateway through the management console, BOOTP, or DHCS. If you are managing a cluster, you must assign IP information to the command switch. The assigned information is displayed in the IP Address, IP Mask, and Default Gateway fields.
View or enter IP configuration information in the following fields:
| IP Fields | Description |
| IP Address | View the IP address or enter a
new one. If you enter a new address and click Apply,
CVSM loses contact with the switch. You must then enter
the new IP address in the browser Location field
to reestablish contact with the switch. Note: If you are displaying IP information for the command switch, the address in the IP Address field is for the command switch. If you are displaying IP information for a member switch that has no IP address assigned, the IP information applies to the command switch. If the member switch has an address, it is displayed in the IP Address field. |
| IP Mask | View or enter the IP mask for the switch. |
| Broadcast | Enter the IP broadcast address for the switch. The broadcast address is reserved for sending a message to all stations. |
| Default Gateway | View or enter the IP address of the default gateway. The switch acts as an IP host and needs a default gateway to activate the IP stack. The CPU sends traffic to an unknown IP address through the default gateway. |
| Domain Name | Enter a domain name for the switch. See your network administrator for this information. |
| Management VLAN | Displays the current management VLAN ID, which is VLAN 1. Workstations connected to ports assigned to the same VLAN as the management VLAN can establish IP connectivity (Telnet or SNMP) to the switch. This field is read-only. |
You can list, add, and remove domain name system (DNS) servers to be used by the switch.
