Cable Connectors and Pinouts

This chapter provides cable-connector and pinout information for the Cisco IP/VC 3530 VTA.

Proprietary VTA V.35/EIA/TIA-366 Cable Assembly

The VTA uses the V.35 interface with EIA/TIA-366 signalling to communicate with H.320 room systems. The VTA has two 26-pin WAN ports, each of which combines the V.35 interface with EIA/TIA-366 signalling to support a 1B channel. Two proprietary V.35/EIA/TIA-366 cables assemblies are shipped with the VTA. Each assembly features a V.35 cable and a EIA/TIA-366 cable attached to a single, 26-pin connector. You must connect the cables to the complementary room system parts. Both ports must be connected for the VTA to support 2B calls.

Table B-1provides pinout information for the three proprietary cable assembly connectors.

Serial Connector and Terminal/Modem Cable

The Terminal/Modem cable is a crossover cable with a Y design that connects the VTA to the serial port of a PC for configuration and monitoring. The 9-pin male connector connects to the VTA serial port on the front panel. The 9-pin female connector connects to the configuration PC (COM 1). The 25-pin male connector connects the VTA to a modem, which can be accessed by a remote PC for configuration and monitoring.

Note If you connect the 25-pin male connector to the configuration PC (COM 2), you may need a female/female adapter.

Null Modem Cable

To connect the VTA serial port to a modem or a PC you need a null modem cable. Figure B-1 illustrates the connector configuration.
