The MCU operating software is stored in Flash memory. You can view the software version number that the unit is currently running in the Cisco IP/VC Configuration Utility Configuration Source window. You can use the Cisco IP/VC Software Upload Utility to replace the current operating software. This chapter describes how to use the Software Upload Utility to upgrade the MCU operating software. The topics include:
The Cisco IP/VC Software Upload Utility is shipped on the Cisco IP/VC Software CD-ROM and is installed through the Cisco IP/VC Tools Setup Utility. The Cisco IP/VC Software Upload Utility is automatically installed when you choose the Typical setup and can be selected for installation when you choose the Custom setup option.
To install the Cisco IP/VC Software Upload Utility, perform the following steps:
Step 2 The installation wizard starts automatically if the computer is appropriately configured. To start the installation wizard manually, do the following:
a. In Windows Explorer, click the CD-ROM drive letter. The list of files appears.
b. Double-click Setup.exe. The Wizard installs.
Step 3 Click Next in the Welcome window. The Question dialog box appears.
Step 4 Click No. The Product Selection Window appears.
Step 5 Check the 3510-MCU check box and click Next. The Choose Destination Location window appears.
Step 6 Choose the path where you want the upload utility to reside and click Next. The Setup Type window appears.
Step 7 Click the Custom radio button. The Select Components window appears.
Step 8 Check the Cisco IPVC Software Upload Utility check box. Uncheck the boxes of the software utilities you do not want to load. Click Next. The Select Program Folder window appears.
Step 9 Select the folder name where you want to place the utility. Click Next. The upload utility is installed on the drive. The Setup Complete window appears.
Step 10 Click Finish.
You must copy the file you want to use to upgrade the MCU to the PC on which you have installed the Cisco IP/VC Software Upload Utility. To copy the file, perform the following steps:
Step 2 Select the MCU *.fls file that you want to upload.

Note If you have an earlier version of the operating software that you want to keep, we recommend that you move it to another location before you copy the existing file. Otherwise, the new file will overwrite the existing file. |
Step 3 Copy or download the file to the following location:
Program Files/Cisco IPVC Tools/Upload
This section describes how to upload operating software to the MCU. To upload the software, perform the following steps:
We recommend that you copy the software to the following location on the computer on which the Cisco IP/VC Software Upload Utility is installed:
Program Files/Cisco IPVC Tools/Upload
Step 2 Click Start > Programs > Cisco IPVC Tools > Cisco IPVC Software UpLoad Utility. The Software Upload Utility window appears. (See Figure E-1.)

Step 3 In the IP field, enter the IP address of the MCU that you want to upload the file to.
Step 4 In the User name field, enter admin.
Step 5 In the Password field, enter the password required to log in to the MCU. The default password is cisco.

Note The default password changes after you upgrade the MCU software. The new default password is GWrv. |
Step 6 Enter the path to the operating software file that you want to upload. In the Look in field:
The path of the file you select appears in the Path field.
Step 7 Click Upload to upload the file.
Step 8 Click Yes to confirm the upload process, or No to cancel.
A connecting window appears, showing the connection attempt. If the connection attempt is not successful, an abort message is displayed.
When the configuration terminal connects to the unit, a status window appears, showing the progress of the uploading process and confirming the name of the file being uploaded and the destination IP address.
After the file is successfully uploaded to the MCU, the following message appears:
