About the Cisco IPVC-MW-BRI-2-EC Module

The Cisco IPVC-MW-BRI-2-EC module is a plug-in module that allows the Cisco IP/VC 3520 Video Gateway to provide videoconference and voice calls between H.323 endpoints on LANs and H.320 terminals on WANs that use BRI ISDN lines. The BRI module supports two ISDN lines and Line Echo Cancellation for voice calls.

Installing the IPVC-MW-BRI-2-EC Module

To install the IPVC-MW-BRI-2-EC module, perform the following steps:

Step 1 Remove the module from the shipping container. Keep the module in the antistatic bag until you are ready to insert it into the Video Gateway chassis.

Step 2 Turn the power to the Video Gateway off and remove the power cable.

Step 3 Remove any WAN or LAN cables that may hinder installation of the new module. If necessary, move the Video Gateway to a suitable workspace.

Step 4 On the unit's rear panel, use a No. 1, flatblade screwdriver to remove the four screws that secure the module panel in the Video Gateway chassis that you want to replace (see Figure 1).

Step 5 Use the flat part of the screwdriver blade to gently pry the module panel from the chassis. If you are replacing a module, this action will separate the module connector from the chassis connector.

Step 6 Remove the replacement module from the antistatic bag and slide the edges of the printed circuit board into the lower guides cut into the chassis.

Step 7 Slide the module into the slot until connectors click for a secure connection.

Step 8 Secure the module with the four screws.

Step 9 Connect BRI lines to the module ports.

Step 10 Connect the power cable to the Video Gateway and turn the power on.

Setting the Operating Parameters for Your Module Installation

The Cisco IP/VC 3520 Video Gateway must be configured to use the IPVC-MW-BRI-2-EC module. This section list installation scenarios and describes the parameters you must set for the Video Gateway to use the new module. You can use the Cisco IP/VC Configuration Utility to set operating parameters. See the Cisco IP/VC 3520 Gateway User Guide for instructions on how to configure the Video Gateway with the configuration utility.

The position in which the module is installed in the Video Gateway's rear panel determines the port number. The module farthest from the power switch contain WAN ports 1 and 2. The module installed closest to the power switch contains ports 3 and 4.
