This chapter provides the basic information you need to install and configure the
Cisco IP/VC 3525 Video Gateway quickly.
This section lists the materials needed to connect and configure the Video Gateway.
This section provides basic instructions to connect and configure the unit.
To quickly setup the Cisco IP/VC 3525 Video Gateway perform the following steps:
1. Assign the Video Gateway an IP address through the serial port. Use the Terminal/Modem cable that comes with the Video Gateway to connect its serial port to the computer or laptop serial port.
See the "Setting the IP Address" sections in the "Installing the Hardware and Configuration Software" chapter.
2. Connect the Video Gateway to the network.
See the "Installing the Mounting Brackets" and the "Connecting the Video Gateway to the Network"sections in the "Installing the Hardware and Configuration Software" chapter.
3. Install the Cisco IP/VC Configuration Utility on the network computer that you will use to configure the Video Gateway.
See the Appendix , "Installing the Cisco IP/VC Tools Software" section in the "Installing the Hardware and Configuration Software" chapter.
4. Set the operating parameters for the Video Gateway:
(a) Start the Cisco IP/VC Configuration Utility.
See the "Starting the Cisco IP/VC Configuration Utility" section in the "Configuring the Video Gateway" chapter.
(b) Select or enter the IP address of the Cisco IP/VC 3525 Video Gateway you want to configure.
See the "Starting the Cisco IP/VC Configuration Utility" section in the "Configuring the Video Gateway" chapter.
(c) Specify the IP address of the gatekeeper you want the Video Gateway to use.
See the "Setting the Cisco IP/VC 3525 Video Gateway Operating Parameters" section in the "Configuring the Video Gateway" chapter.
(d) Specify the IP address of the router you want the Video Gateway to use.
See the "Setting the Cisco IP/VC 3525 Video Gateway Operating Parameters" section in the "Configuring the Video Gateway" chapter.
(e) Define the services you want the Video Gateway to provide.
See the "Setting the Cisco IP/VC 3525 Video Gateway Operating Parameters" section in the "Configuring the Video Gateway" chapter.
(f) Configure the WAN ports.
See the "Setting the Cisco IP/VC 3525 Video Gateway Operating Parameters" section in the "Configuring the Video Gateway" chapter.
5. Upload the configuration file to the unit's Flash memory.
See the "Saving the File and Uploading to Memory" section in the "Configuring the Video Gateway" chapter.
