The Cisco IP/VC 3520 Video Gateway is equipped with a serial port that can be used to assign the unit an IP address and to run the diagnostic program. The serial port uses null configuration.
Cisco IP/VC 3520 Video Gateways are shipped with a Terminal/Modem cable that is configured for null operation. The Terminal/Modem cable's Y construction allows you to connect the Video Gateway directly to the serial port of a PC or through a modem (see Figure D-1). The cable connects a male, D-type, 9-pin connector that plugs into the serial port on the Video Gateway to a female, D-type 9-pin connector that plugs into a PC serial port and a female, D-type 26-pin connector that plugs into a modem.

The pin-configuration the Cisco IP/VC 3520 Video Gateway serial interface uses (see Table D-2).
