This appendix describes how to register Cisco IP/VC 3520 Video Gateway services and the embedded gatekeeper with the Cisco Multimedia Conference Manager (MCM). The topics this appendix covers include:
Refer to the Multimedia Conference Manager for complete instructions on how to install, configure, and use the Cisco MCM.
You must register the services the Cisco IP/VC 3520 Video Gateway provides with an H.323 gatekeeper on the network. Services are defined by the entries that provides the service. Within the service definition a dialing prefix is assigned that users include in the dial string to request the service. For a user to use the service, the dialing prefix must be registered with the a gatekeeper. If the prefix is not registered, the user's call will be rejected.
If you are using the Cisco IP/VC 3520 Video Gateway's embedded gatekeeper, you can register it with other gatekeepers on the network to facilitate the interzone calling. Endpoints cannot dial directly outside of the zone. All outgoing call request are passed through the endpoint's local gatekeeper which contacts the remote gatekeeper associated with the recipient. Registering the remote gatekeeper with the local gatekeeper allows the local gatekeeper to make direct contact with the recipient's gatekeeper. Otherwise, the local gatekeeper sends a multicast inquiry over the network and waits for the appropriate gateway to respond.
This appendix describes how to register Cisco IP/VC 3520 Video Gateway services with the Cisco MCM gatekeeper and how to register the Cisco IP/VC 3520 Video Gateway's embedded gatekeeper with the Cisco MCM gatekeeper. The intent of this appendix is to provide the basic MCM configuration steps to ensure that the MCM use the services the Video Gateway provides and the basic steps require to ensure that the MCM can contact the embedded gatekeeper.
This section describes how to register Cisco IP/VC 3520 Video Gateway services with the MCM gatekeeper.
The following items are required to register Cisco IP/VC 3520 Video Gateway services with the MCM gatekeeper:
If you have not already done so, you must create a local zone on which endpoints including the gatekeeper can register. To create a local zone, perform the following steps:
Step 1 Log in to the MCM gatekeeper on which you want to register the services.
Step 2 At the unit's prompt, type enable and press Enter.
Step 3 At the prompt, type config terminal and press Enter.
Step 4 At the prompt type, gatekeeper and press Enter.
Step 5 At the prompt type, zone local gatekeeper-name IP_address.
Where:
gatekeeper-name is the name you assign to the gatekeeper.
IP_address is the IP address assigned to the MCM unit.
Step 6 If you want to assign a zone prefix to the zone type, zone prefix gatekeeper-name prefix-value.
Where:
prefix-value is the prefix you want to assign to the specified gatekeeper.
Step 7 Press Ctrl-Z to save the entries when you are done.
Step 8 To verify that the service prefixes are registered with the gatekeeper, type
sh run at the prompt and press Enter.
To register Video Gateway services with the MCM gatekeeper, perform the following steps:
Step 1 Determine which Cisco IP/VC 3520 Video Gateway services you want to register with the MCM gatekeeper. The services are listed in the Services Definition Table displayed in the Cisco IP/VC Configuration Utility.
Step 2 log in to the MCM gatekeeper on which you want to register the services.
Step 3 At the unit's prompt, type enable and press Enter.
Step 4 At the prompt type, config terminal and press Enter.
Step 5 At the prompt type, gatekeeper and press Enter.
Step 6 At the config prompt type gw-type-prefix service prefix 1820 and press Enter.
Where:
service prefix is the prefix value assigned to the service you want to register with the gatekeeper. This value must correspond to the service as defined in the Cisco IP/VC 3520 Video Gateway's Services Definition Table.
1820 is the port the Cisco IP/VC 3520 Video Gateway uses.
Step 7 Repeat Step 5 for each service you want to register with the gatekeeper. Press Ctrl-Z to save the entries when you are done.
Step 8 To verify that the service prefixes are registered with the gatekeeper, type
sh run at the prompt and press Enter.
In environments where zones are defined, you must register the embedded gatekeeper's zone prefix with the MCM if you want the users in the MCM's zone to be able to initiate calls with users in the embedded gatekeeper's zone. This section describes how to register the embedded gatekeeper's zone prefix with the MCM.
The following items are required to register Cisco IP/VC 3520 Video Gateway zone prefix with the MCM gatekeeper:
To register the embedded gatekeeper's zone prefix with the MCM, perform the following steps:
Step 1 Log in to the MCM gatekeeper on which you want to register the services.
Step 2 At the unit's prompt, type enable and press Enter.
Step 3 At the prompt, type config terminal and press Enter.
Step 4 At the config prompt, type gatekeeper and press Enter.
Step 5 At the config-gk prompt, type zone remote identifier IP address port and press Enter.
Where:
Step 6 Type gw-type-prefix identifier zone prefix* and press Enter.
Where zone prefix is the embedded gatekeeper's dialing number defined in the gatekeeper's Services Definition Table as Zone prefix 1 or Zone prefix 2.
Step 7 Press Ctrl-Z.
