This chapter discusses the objectives, intended audience, and organization of the
Cisco IP/VC 3520 Gateway User Guide and defines the conventions used to convey instructions and information. It also discusses how to obtain documentation on Cisco Connection Online and the Documentation CD-ROM.
This guide describes the Cisco IP/VC 3520 Video Gateway features and functionality and how to install and configure the unit for operating with an IP network. Throughout the guide the Cisco IP/VC 3520 Video Gateway is also referred to as the Video Gateway
This manual is intended for the network administrator who needs instructions about how to install and configure the Cisco IP/VC 3520 Video Gateway.
This guide is organized into the following chapters and appendixes:

Command descriptions use the following conventions:

boldface | Indicates commands and keywords that are entered literally as shown. |
italics | Indicates arguments for which you supply values; in contexts that do not allow italics, arguments are enclosed in angle brackets (< >). |
[x] | Indicates optional keywords or arguments. |
{x | y | z} | Indicates a choice of required keywords (represented by x, y, and z). You must select one. |
[x {y | z}] | Indicates a required choice within an optional element. You do not need to select keyword x, but if you do, you must specify either argument y or argument z. |
The following conventions are used to attract the reader's attention:
 | Caution Means reader be careful. In this situation, you might do something that could result in equipment damage or loss of data. |
 | Warning his warning symbol means danger. You are in a situation that could cause bodily injury. Cisco Connection Online (CCO) is Cisco Systems' primary, real-time support channel. Maintenance customers and partners can self-register on CCO to obtain additional information and services.
