Removing and Replacing LocalDirector Network Interface Cards

Follow this procedure to remove and replace network interface cards in a LocalDirector 430 or 416:


Step 1   Read the Regulatory Compliance and Safety Information for the Cisco LocalDirector publication for important safety information.

Step 2   Save the existing configuration to Flash memory.

Step 3   Power down the unit from the back panel.

Step 4   Remove the three screws from the top panel at the front of the unit, as shown
in
Figure C-1.

Step 5   Slide the top panel toward the back of the cabinet, and then lift the panel straight up, as shown in Figure C-2.

Step 6   If you are replacing an existing circuit board, remove the screw that secures the board to the back of the chassis for each board you are replacing, as shown
in
Figure C-3.

Step 7   If you are replacing an existing board, remove each board and set it aside.

Step 8   Remove the new circuit board from its package.

Step 9   Insert each new board in the appropriate slot so that the mounting bracket faces the back of the unit, as shown in Figure C-4.

Step 10   Attach the screw to the mounting bracket, and replace the top panel.

Step 11   Put the unit back on the equipment rack and plug in the cables and the power cord.

Step 12   Power up the unit from the switch at the back of the unit.
