This chapter includes instructions for unlocking the entities that you locked when completing the provisioning tasks and then verifying the subscriber settings that you completed in the preceding chapters. These two tasks are the final steps for provisioning subscribers.
This chapter includes the following sections:
Once you have entered all port, subscriber, and VCI/VPI data, you must unlock any affected entities to place them in service. Modules and ports cannot provide transmission service in a Locked state. Unlocking entities requires you to click Unlocked in the appropriate dialog boxes, and then click Apply.
Consider the following guidelines for unlocking entities:
This section includes the following set of instructions. You can unlock entities in any order that is most convenient for you; this sequence would be intuitive if you have just completed provisioning subscribers.
Complete the following steps to unlock a subscriber:
Step 2 Choose Port Properties > Configuration as shown in Figure 4-1.

The Port Configuration tab on the Module Properties dialog box opens, shown in Figure 4-2.

Step 3 Click Edit Subscriber to open the Subscriber Properties dialog box, shown in Figure 4-3.

The Administrative State displays as Locked until you change it.
Step 4 Click Unlocked.
Step 5 Click Apply, and then OK.
The subscriber is now unlocked and available for service.

Note The Administrative state for each subscriber must remain locked when you define PVC information. Once the PVC information is defined, you can unlock the subscriber to return that subscriber to service. |
Complete the following steps to unlock a port:
The Port Configuration tab on the Module Properties dialog box opens, shown in Figure 4-4).

Step 2 Click Unlocked to unlock the port for service.
Step 3 Click Apply and then OK to return to the Chassis View.
Complete the following steps to unlock a module:

The Configuration tab on the Module Properties dialog box opens, shown in Figure 4-6.

Step 2 Click Unlocked on the ATU-C or STU-C Module Properties dialog box to unlock the module for service.
Step 3 Click Apply, and then OK to return to the GUI.
After you unlock the ViewRunner entities, you should verify the provisioning settings that you have added or modified for subscribers. You should also check the PVC settings. The subscribers should be trained and connected for you to properly check their settings.
Complete the following steps to verify the settings that your have provisioned for subscribers:
The Port Status tab on the Module Properties dialog box opens, shown in Figure 4-7.

Step 2 Check to see whether the CPE is trained by looking at the 4-Flexi Card field (or other module type field).
Step 3 Verify that the upstream and downstream settings are correct in the Actual Upstream Rate and Downstream Rate fields in the Status of Trained ATU-C Ports group box.
Next, you should verify all subscriber PVCs by completing the following steps:

Step 2 Scroll across the Subscriber PVCs dialog box and check the settings for each of the following fields:
Step 3 Click Close when you have finished verifying the subscriber PVC settings.
You can verify provisioned subscriber settings on the Module Properties dialog box Port Status tab, on the View All Subscribers dialog box, and on the View Subscriber PVCs dialog box. These are described in the following sections.
Complete the following steps to verify the settings that you have provisioned for subscribers:
Step 2 Choose Port Properties and Status to open the Port Status tab on the Module Properties dialog box shown in Figure 4-7.

Step 3 Check to see whether the CPE is trained by checking the ATU-C Port fields.
Step 4 Verify the upstream and downstream settings.
You can get an overview of all subscriber settings by opening the View All Subscribers dialog box. Follow these steps.
Step 2 Choose View All Subscribers from the menu to open the View All Subscribers dialog box.

Step 3 To view individual subscriber's properties, click the blue, underlined hypertext.
The Subscriber Properties dialog box for that subscriber opens.
Finally, you should verify all subscriber PVCs by completing the following steps:
Step 2 Choose View Subscriber PVCs from the menu to open the Subscriber PVCs dialog box, shown in Figure 4-8.

Step 3 Scroll across the Subscriber PVCs dialog box and check the settings for Subscriber VCI/VPI, Network VCI/VPI, Priority, and Latency.
Step 4 Click Close when you have finished verifying the subscriber PVC settings.
After you have verified the subscriber settings, you are ready to use the Cisco 6100 Series system.
You have completed the tasks for provisioning subscribers for a Direct Connect configuration. The principles and procedures you have learned in the previous sections give you the basis to set up subtending, which is described in the"Subtending in a Direct Connect Configuration."
