User Account Administration

This chapter describes several security levels provided by the ViewRunner for Windows software, logging onto the system initially, and how to define users and passwords.

4.1 Security Levels

ViewRunner for Windows provides three levels of security:

All levels of security can use ViewRunner for Windows to do the following:

administrator and operator IDs can use ViewRunner for Windows to add, delete, or change configuration information about the equipment in the Cisco 6100 Series system.

4.2 Starting ViewRunner for Windows

You can start ViewRunner for Windows in one of two ways:

To start ViewRunner for Windows:

Step 1 Double-click the ViewRunner icon. The Login dialog box in Figure 4-1 appears.

Table 4-1 describes the fields in the ViewRunner for Windows Access dialog box (see Figure 4-1).

Field Description

User Name

Prompts you for your user name.

Note This field is not case-sensitive.

Password

Prompts you for your password.

Note This field is not case-sensitive.

Step 2 Enter User Name and Password. Click OK.

The ViewRunner for Windows Splash dialog box appears (Figure 4-2).

4.3 Defining Users

The first time you use ViewRunner for Windows:

    1. A dialog box appears stating, "No users defined."

    2. ViewRunner for Windows automatically opens the User Administration dialog box with defaults as follows (see Figure 4-3):

To change any of these defaults, enter new information into that field.
