Adding and Deleting System Components

Adding and Deleting System Components

ViewRunner allows you to add and delete various system components including both chassis and modules. This chapter discusses deleting:

10.1 Deleting a Module

To delete a module, follow the procedures below.

Step 1 Move your cursor over the slot of the module you want to delete, and press the right mouse button. The following pop-up menu appears.

Step 2 Select the Delete Module option.

ATU-C and LIM Modules

For ATU-C and line interface modules (LIMs), you must first lock the module before deleting it.

To lock a module, follow the procedures below:

Step 1 Move your cursor of the ATU-C or LIM slot and right click.

Step 2 Select the Port Properties >> Configuration option.

Step 3 When the screen displays, select the Locked option under the Administrative State field.

If you delete LIM NI modules, however, you could interrupt subscriber calls taking place.

Network Interface Modules

You can delete network interface (NI) modules without first locking them.

System Controller

You cannot delete the primary SC, but you can delete any redundant SC modules.

Note Be sure to use the configuration save and restore feature to save your original configuration so you can restore it when new modules are installed. See "Configuration Save and Restore," for more details.

10.2 Deleting a Chassis

To delete a chassis, follow the procedure below:

Step 1 Place your cursor over the top, bottom, or sides of the chassis to be deleted, and click the right button. The following pop-up menu appears.

Figure 10-2: Delete Chassis

Step 2 Select the Delete Chassis option and the chassis is deleted.

Note For SC software version 2.1.0 or later, the LIM controller must be locked in order to delete the line concentration chassis (LCC). The Delete Chassis option is disabled if the LIM controller is not locked. The multiplexer chassis (MC) may not be deleted since you cannot delete the primary SC.

For SC software version 1.0.2, the LIM controller does not support an Administrative State, so all LIMs in the LCC must be explicitly locked to enable the Delete Chassis option.
