You need one of the following recommended Sun UltraSPARC workstations or servers as your processor:
Following are the memory requirements:
The minimum available disk space required is 2.1 GB, distributed as follows:
Cisco recommends swap space equal to at least twice the real memory in the machine.
HP OpenView and the Oracle Server both require that the shared memory and semaphore facilities are installed. The following lines should be added to the /etc/system file, and the workstation should be rebooted. Please consult your Oracle manual for more information.
forceload: sys/shmsys
forceload: sys/semsys set pt_cnt=256
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmin=1
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmni=100 set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=209715200
set shmsys:shminfo_shmseg=50
set semsys:seminfo_semaem=16384
set semsys:seminfo_semmap=66
set semsys:seminfo_semmnu=30
set semsys:seminfo_semume=10
set semsys:seminfo_semvmx=32767
set semsys:seminfo_semmsl=30
set semsys:seminfo_semmns=1750
set semsys:seminfo_semmni=70
You must reboot the system after you have made these changes.

Note For databases with larger system global areas, the shmmax value might need to be increased. |
You should have a monitor with the following characteristics:
You need a CD-ROM drive to install the various applications that are necessary to run ViewRunner for HP OpenView.
Cisco 6100 Series systems support Ethernet connectivity that is available on the Sun SPARCstation, including 10BaseT, 100BaseTX, or AUI. ViewRunner can communicate with the Cisco 6100 Series system through an IP overlay network to the Cisco 6100 Series system modem Ethernet port or through an ATM network to the Cisco 6100 Series system in-band management channel.
If any Cisco 6100 Series systems need to be managed across both an Ethernet and in-band management channel, two network interfaces on separate subnets are needed on the ViewRunner server.
Cisco also recommends that you have the following capabilities:
ViewRunner for HP OpenView requires the operating system Solaris 2.6 running with HP OpenView Network Manager 5.01.
To verify what version of the operating system is running, use the following command:
uname -a
The Oracle Server requires that you install the following operating system packages:
Although not required, Cisco highly recommends that you also install the Common Desktop Environment (CDE).
Use the following command to verify the packages that you have installed:
pkginfo <package name> <package name>
To verify that you have both SUNWbtool and SUNWsprot installed, execute the following command:
pkginfo SUNWbtool SUNWsprot
HP OpenView Network Node Manager (NNM) version 5.01 requires patches PSOV_02468.
Cisco Engineering tested and certified patch PSOV_02468 with ViewRunner for HP OpenView 3.0.0.
During the installation of ViewRunner for HP OpenView, a prompt asks for patch, PSOV_02468. This patch was the Cumulative Consolidated Patch and it was available when ViewRunner was developed. If you do not have the patch installed, the installer script displays the following response:
Patch PSOV_02468 is not installed. Install the patch and restart the ViewRunner for HP OpenView Server installation.
Press enter or Y to continue or Q to quit: Y

Note Press Enter or type Y to continue the installation if you know that you have a newer patch installed and Cisco Systems has certified a newer patch than the one used at the time of development. |
To have a Y2K compliant environment for this release of ViewRunner for HP OpenView, you need the following patches for the third party software.
HP OpenView NNM with the latest consolidated patch is Y2K compliant. During installation, ViewRunner automatically checks for HP OpenView patches that are Y2K compliant. See the following Web site for more information:
