3.2.1 HP OpenView Patches

The following patches are required for HP OpenView:

Cisco Systems distributes patch PSOV_02091 on the ViewRunner for HP OpenView CD because it is no longer available from the HP support Web site. This patch has been tested with ViewRunner for HP OpenView 2.4.0 and is certified by Cisco Engineering.

During the installation of ViewRunner for HP OpenView, a prompt asks for patch PSOV_02091. This patch was the Cumulative Consolidated Patch that was available when ViewRunner was developed. If you have both patch PSOV_02243 and PSOV_02402 installed, the installer script gives the following response:

Patch PSOV_02243 is installed. This patch is known to cause problems with this release of ViewRunner. You must backout this patch and install PSOV_02091 provided on this CDROM.
Press enter or Y to continue or Q to quit:

Note Press enter or type Y to continue the installation. PSOV_02243 did cause problems with ViewRunner at the time it was developed, and PSOV_02402 was not available. You must have both patches installed for ViewRunner to work successfully.

If HP OpenView NNM is already installed, use the following command to verify whether or not a specific patch has been applied:

/usr/ccs/bin/what <OV install directory>/bin/ovw | grep <patch number>

If HP OpenView is installed in the /opt directory, use the following command to verify whether or not a specific patch has been applied:

 /usr/ccs/bin/what /opt/OV/bin/ovw | grep <patch number>

3.2.2 Verifying the HP OpenView NNM Version Installation

If HP OpenView NNM is already installed, use the following command to verify the version:

<OV install directory>/bin/ovversion

That is, if the HP OpenView install directory is /opt, you would execute the following command:

/opt/OV/bin/ovversion

3.3 Oracle Database Software

The Oracle Enterprise Database Server Version 7.3.x is required to run with ViewRunner for HP OpenView. If you are running Oracle Workgroup Edition, you must upgrade to version 7.3.4 because ViewRunner works with the Enterprise Edition only. Install the Oracle database software according to the instructions found in the Oracle manuals. See "Sample of Oracle Database Installation," for sample steps to install Oracle Database.
