These release notes provide the following information:
This document forms the release notes for the Cisco 6400 Service Connection Manager V1.2 Release (Part Number 030-005802-011). In accordance with the Atlantech TickIT Quality Procedure QR511 it describes the following :
- Configuration Control
- Master records information
- Outstanding Problems
- Changes since last release
This document is intended for reading by personnel of Atlantech Technologies Ltd.
The Cisco 6400 Service Connection Manager V1.2 software release is built from the following components:
Label - AVMT_1.0.9_16
Element - /vobs/AV2/commonEM/imp/src/DialogBackend/libGraphicHandler/macAddressHandler.cc, Label - AV_2.1.3-11
Note the Element used ensured that the AVMT package used ( AVMT_1.0.9.2-Internal ) did not pick up the Bug Fix for ATLuk09792 - Ethernet physical address is displayed in reverse order.
- Cisco 6400 Service Connection Manager
Imp Vob - /vobs/AV2/Cisco/6400/imp, Label - SCM_V1.2_preD
Note The label used to release SCM V1.2 is SCM_V1.2_preD. The final engineering test run used the label SCM_V1.2_preC. As the changes between the 2 versions are minor, there has been no formal testing on the label SCM_V1.2_preD. Testing carried out on the fixes in SCM_V1.2_preD has been specified within the bug reports for ATLuk10746 and ATLuk10747.
The Cisco 6400 Service Connection Manager V1.2 software consists of the following packages :
- Cisco 6400 SCM Element Manager GUI - Manager and Client Package
V1.2
- Cisco 6400 SCM Service\Subscriber GUI - Manager and Client Package
V1.2
- Cisco 6400 SCM Controllers - Manager and Client Package
V1.2
The packages which the Cisco 6400 Service Connection Manager V1.2 software release depends on are as follows :
- Access Vision Management Toolkit (AVMT) AVMT_1.0.9.2-Internal
The Cisco 6400 Service Connection Manager V1.2 Software has been tested against and is therefore compatible with the `Access Vision V2.1.4' package and the Access Vision `Patch AV2.1.4 Patch 1'.
The installation mechanism will prevent the Cisco 6400 Service Connection Manager V1.2 being installed on any release of Access Vision prior to `Access Vision 2.1.4). However, the installation mechanism will not prevent the installation of the Cisco 6400 Service Connection Manager V1.2 on any release of Access Vision made after Access Vision 2.1.4.
The Cisco 6400 Service Connection Manager V1.2 has not be fully tested with any release of Access Vision made after Access Vision 2.1.4.
The Cisco 6400 Service Conntection Manager has been tested with the following IOS versions:
Engineering Testing:
- NSP IOS Version 12.0(.3) DB
- NRP IOS Version 11.3(8) DB
System Testing:
- NSP IOS Version 12.0(.4) DB
- NRP IOS Version 12.0(.3) DB
The following describes the changes made since the V1.1 release of the 6400 SCM :
The following list represents the known published defects associated with the Cisco 6400 Service Connection Manager Component of this release :
- ATLuk06185 - The Sonet APS Screen when opened displays ERROR for all fields if Redundancy has not been configured. This is not a major problem as if Redundancy has not been configured then this screen is not relevant anyway.
- ATLuk06237 - In some circumstances a user will be unable to save fields on the More Config tab of the NLC ATM Port Config screen. This is in fact correct behaviour as the Line Coding and Line Buildout are only relevant for certain framing modes. Hence if the Framing Mode is not relevant to these fields than they shoud not save. However, the fields should be greyed out when they are not relevent to prevent confusion for the user. The correct behaviour of these fields is documented in the user guide.
- ATLuk06238 - There can be blank fields on the More Config tab of the NLC ATM Port Config screen . These fields appear blank because they return nothing when the Framing Mode is not relevant. The DS1/E1/DS3/E3 Phy Layer Configuration variables are completely blank
Refer to the Evaluation of ATLuk06237.
- ATLuk06329 - There is a need to produce a unique icons for the Object Manager representation of NRPs, NLCs and NSPs.
- ATLuk06378 - When the AutoDiscovery Application is used the Network node on the Map representing the first Network discovered overlaps the "Top Site" icon. The workaround is to use Map Build mode to simply move the icons around so they do not overlap.
- ATLuk06383 - The User Manual PDF files should be installed onto disk as part of installation. Currently the user will have to manually copy them off the CD into a directory of their choice.
- ATLuk06395 - Action buttons e.g. Commission, Decommission do not currently have tool tips.
- ATLuk06398 - The LHS navigation on maps not displaying full name. When navigating using the LHS on map viewer it does not display more than 16 characters e.g. "te-194.131.185.1". This will present a problem when you have many auto discovered chassis'. i.e delta between site 194.131.185.131.122 "te-194.131.185.1" & site 194.131.185.133 "te-194.131.185.1" cannot be determined
- ATLuk06401 - The NRP Management Screen shows the wrong containment path in the title. The NRP Management Screen shows its port in the containment path in the window title.
- ATLuk06402 - Removing green labelling from chassis results in stripes. Unable to remove labelling from gifs to leave gif only on chassis. Entering an empty string results in a thin green stripe being left on the gif.
- ATLuk06428 - Errored fields on Port Dialog if redundant secondary slot or sub-slot. If slots or sub-slots are configured redundant then the primary (sub-)slot will retain their port ifIndex. However, the port IfIndex of the secondary (sub-)slot are set to zero by the 6400. This results in the port dialog for the secondary (sub-)slot being Errored. Possible solutions are:
- Prevent the dialog of the secondary port from being launched
- Set the ifIndex of the secondary port to that of the primary port so that both reference the same
data.
- Get Cisco to do 2) internally on the 6400.
- ATLuk09788 The attribute 'Chassis System Type' is wrong. There is an incompatibility between the latest Cisco-Rhino mib and the old Cisco-Rhino mib. This results in the following: Chassis System Type shows c8510 on the Chassi Management Dialogue instead of c6400. Also when running SCM against 12.0(4) a number of attributes on the same tab have errors.
- ATLuk10163 Monitored attributes can disappear from performance manager. The workaround is to stop the system and move the monitored attribute file up to /opt/AV/config/monitoredAttributes/. Then restart the system.
- ATLuk10002 & ATLuk100027 NRP when manually deployed shows as Commissioned. When an NRP card is deployed its card state will be queried. If the card is present then it will be transitioned into the commissioned state followed by the Normal state. The workarouind is to decommission the card after it has transitioned into the Normal state.
- ATLuk10084 Odd objectlist behaviour when connections are deleted. On ocassions If the disconnect subscribers is launched from a connection object, when a connection is deleted the NSP objectlist can be wrongly populated. This can result in no more disconnections from this dialogue working. A workaround is to close and relaunch the dialogue.
- ATLuk09016 Select all fails on clicking right mouse button. Select all menu option not multi selecting.
- ATLuk 09228 Notes in top site Shows error.
- ATLuk09232 Site Info shows error.
- ATLuk9020: Clicking the previous and next button (quickly) on the chassis management screen cause window to have watch symbol displayed. Workaround is to close the window and relaunch.
- ATLuk10113: In Disconnect Dialog Service Instance VPI/VCI values are incorrect.
- ATLuk10538: Option not given when installing Access Vision or SCM on to a dual hosted machine. Workaround: if installing on a dual hosted machine and the network card to be used does not have it's details presented by default in the machine setup section; when prompted for "Is this Correct?" enter "n" for no and then enter the correct details.
- ATLuk10619: Can delete a site with a commissioned NSP below it.
- ATLuk10622: Alarm for description NRP EHSA Slot x is not translated to an AV alarm.
- ATLuk10625: NRP IP Address can be set to 0.0.0.0 unnecessarily when the NSP is stimulated into the discover state. The NSP can be stimulated into discover state by:
commissioning
chassis change trap
chassis fail trap
exiting the errored state
- Workaround is to set the NRP IP Address to the correct value using the NRP Management Dialog.
- ATLuk10654: Predploying a DS3 card into a slot which actually contains an OC3 card can cause a core. - This has only been seen to happen from a newly installed system with no existing databases.
- ATLuk10866: IOS Download from a remote TFTP Server - the action report gives an error message but action completes successfully.

The following list represents the known defects with the Cisco 6400 UAC itself which have knock on effects in the 6400 SCM Software :
- ATLuk05975 - Fields cannot be saved on the NRP ATM Port "Configuration Tab. Before anything will be saved the SNMP write community must be setup correctly. There are however 3 attributes which will not save even if the SNMP write community is setup correctly:
- ILMI VCI Value
- ILMI VPI Value
- ILMI Keepalive Time
- This is a problem within the 6400 Embedded Software.
- ATLuk06294 and ATLuk06405 - On the Syslog tab of the NRP Logs screen, no data is displayed on the screen. On checking this table via CLI, there is data in the syslog table. However, when this table was checked using HP Openview, no data was returned. It looks as if the NRP does not populate the Syslog SNMP table"NRP Logs / sysLog tab is not populating".
- ATLuk06407 - The following lists the current problems with the Redundancy Configuration screen (Note : Most of these problems can be attributed to the appropriate MIB tables and attributes not working correctly on the NSP) :
- The "Force Over" button does not work - The MIB attribute "c64MainCPUSwitchOver" does not work.
- The "Auto Sync Configuration" does not reflect the configuration read/set by CLI. Using the HP Openview MIB Browser The MIB attribute "c64MainCPUConfigAutoSync" can only be set a value of 1 (standard) or 2(startup config). If it is set to 2 then the NSP performs a switch-over and reboots the NRPs in the Chassis.
- The slots cannot be configured to be redundant - The MIB table that supports slot redundancy cannot be read or written, therefore slots cannot be configured to be redundant
- The sub-slot preference selector does not work - The MIB attribute for this does not work
- ATLuk06542 - When a query is performed on the c64ChassisAlarmTable an Alarm Type of 0 is returned for some of the alarms (i.e. any NRP alarms). The MIB does not seem to contain any Alarm Type enumerations for any 6400 specific alarms.
- ATLuk06545 - If the ciscoAtmIfTable is queried using a MIB Browser then the NSP returns the following entries:
- CiscoAtmIfEntry.34.<ifIndex>
- CiscoAtmIfEntry.35.<ifIndex>
- CiscoAtmIfEntry.36.<ifIndex>
- CiscoAtmIfEntry.37.<ifIndex>
- CiscoAtmIfEntry.38.<ifIndex>
- These entries are not defined in the MIB.
- ATLuk06543 - The command "show nrp-ip-address slot x" which the SCM uses on the NSP in order to determine the IP Addresses of the NRPs co-located with the NSP on occassion returns blank fields even though in previous invocations it returned the correct IP Addresses. This problem can be solved by rebooting the NSP.
- ATLuk06544 - The MIB attribute c64ChassisTempThresholdAdmin can only be set to Disabled not Enabled.
- ATLuk10158 - 6400 UAC does not support write functionalty of Admin Status through SNMP
- ATLuk07047, 07048, 07054, 07055, 07056. Can't set Neighbor Interface name, Neighbour IP address, Mavimum VCCs, Maximum VPCs, Max active VCI bits.
