This preface describes the objectives, audience, and organization of the Cisco 6130 DSLAM with NI-2 Installation Guide. It also defines the conventions used to present instructions and information.
This book tells you how to install and set up Cisco 6130 digital subscriber line access multiplexers (DSLAMs) with NI-2. After completing the installation and configuration procedures covered here, refer to the appropriate companion publications for instructions on maintaining and troubleshooting your Cisco 6130 NI-2 DSLAM. For additional information on related documentation, see "Related Documentation" later in this preface.
This book is intended for use by central office (CO) facility technicians and maintenance personnel who are responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining Cisco 6130 DSLAMs with type 2 network interface (NI-2) modules. You should be familiar with telco products and networking systems.

The Cisco CPE, also known as the Cisco 600 Series, is part of the Cisco end-to-end DSL product family. CPE comprises modems and routers at the customer site primarily used by home office and corporate LAN personnel. Most CPE uses the Cisco Broadband Operating System (CBOS) as its operating system. CBOS provides a comprehensive command set and web interface that allow you to configure your Cisco CPE modem or router.
