Line (LIM Port) Events

This chapter explains how to diagnose and handle line (LIM port) events that are generated by the Cisco 6100 Series system. The following information is presented for each of the events:

If none of the actions presented for the event are successful, contact the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) for additional support.


Note Refer to the ViewRunner for Windows User Guide or the ViewRunner for HP OpenView User Guide for detailed information on viewing events in the ViewRunner management software. Refer to "Event Guidelines and Definitions" for detailed information on event severity guidelines and alarm event status changes.

Table 13-1 lists line (LIM port) events and their IDs, definition, severity, and description. A detailed explanation of these events and the corrective actions that are required (if any) is located in this chapter.

Note Events with an ID less than 128 are specific to the module in alarm. Events with an ID value greater than or equal to 128 are system-wide events.

Improper Version Signature on CPE Modem

Description

Improper version signature on CPE modem

Impact

The CPE detection feature is used to discover CPE gear that is not capable of performing Idle or Session timeouts. During training, the CPE detection feature determines if the CPE equipment can be timer enabled. If the equipment can be timer enabled, training will continue. If the equipment cannot be timer enabled, an alarm is generated in ViewRunner and training will not be successful until the Cisco 600 Series CPE device is updated to at least version 2.0.1. The line port or modem port will not train successfully until the Cisco 600 Series CPE device is updated to at least version 2.0.1.

Action

Either lower the CPE detect/reject feature to zero or upgrade the CPE to at least version 2.1.0.

Line Disconnected Due to Session Length

Description

Line disconnected due to session length

Impact

The CPE device session timer expired and the CPE disconnected.

Action

No action is required. To reconnect, wait until the time specified by the lockout timer elapses. The default lockout time is 5 minutes.

Description

Line disconnected due to inactivity

Impact

The user is disconnected when the line is idle for the time specified by the idle timer.

Action

No action is required. The line can be reestablished by clicking in the web browser.
