This chapter explains how to diagnose and handle xTU-C port modem events that are generated by the Cisco 6100 Series system. The following information is presented for each of the events:
If none of the actions presented for the event are successful, contact the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) for additional support.

Table 3-1 lists xTU-C port modem events and their IDs, definition, severity, and description. A detailed explanation of these events and the corrective actions that are required (if any) is located in this chapter.

Improper version signature on CPE modemThe CPE detection feature is used to discover CPE gear that is not capable of performing Idle or Session timeouts. During training, the CPE detection feature determines if the CPE equipment can be timer enabled. If the equipment can be timer enabled, training will continue. If the equipment cannot be timer enabled, an alarm is generated in ViewRunner and training will not be successful until the Cisco 600 Series CPE device is updated to at least version 2.0.1. The line port or modem port will not train successfully until the Cisco 600 Series CPE device is updated to at least version 2.0.1.
Either lower the CPE detect/reject feature to zero or upgrade the CPE to at least version 2.1.0.

CPE modem disconnected due to session lengthThe CPE device session timer expired and the CPE disconnected.
No action is required. To reconnect, wait until the time specified by lockout timer elapses. The default lockout time is 5 minutes.

CPE modem disconnected due to inactivityThe user is disconnected when the line is idle for the time specified by the idle timer.
No action is required. The line can be reestablished by clicking in the web browser.

CPE modem disconnectedThe system will reissue a train command and the session will automatically reestablish when the CPE reconnects.
If the error is temporary there is no need for action. The system will automatically reestablish the connection when the CPE reconnects.
If the problem persists, contact the customer.

Near end loss of power defectThere is a momentary loss of power at the central office (CO). This event could also indicate a power supply fault on a Cisco 6100 or a Cisco 6130.
The current sessions will be lost. The sessions will automatically reestablish once the power is restored.

Near end loss of power failureThis event indicates that a loss of power at the module has been detected in the last 2 consecutive seconds. There could be a momentary loss of power at the central office (CO). This event could also indicate a power supply fault on a Cisco 6100 or a Cisco 6130. This could mean a loss of power at the CO.
The current sessions will be lost. The sessions will automatically reestablish once the power is restored.
