This chapter explains how to diagnose and handle software download events generated by the Cisco 6100 Series system. The following information is presented for each of the events:
If none of the actions presented for the event are successful, contact the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) for additional support.
Table 17-1 lists software download events and their IDs, definition, severity, and description. A detailed explanation of these events and corrective actions required (if any) is located in subsections in this chapter.
| ID | Definition | Severity | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
1 | MUM_TFTPING_FAULT | Minor | TFTP file transfer started |
2 | MUM_TFTP_SUCCESSFUL | Info | TFTP file transfer was successful |
3 | MUM_TFTP_TIMEOUT_FAULT | Minor | No DATA packet from server for 5 seconds after a RRQ or ACK packet was sent |
4 | MUM_FILE_NOT_FOUND_FAULT | Minor | Received something other than a DATA packet or received a out of sequence DATA packet |
5 | MUM_CHKSUM_FAIL_FAULT | Minor | TFTP file transfer failed: checksum was incorrect |
6 | MUM_SIZE_CHK_FAULT | Minor | TFTP file transfer failed: file size was incorrect |
7 | MUM_DB_WRITE_FAULT | Minor | TFTP file transfer failed; image could not be written to Cisco 6100 Series database |
8 | MUM_DB_CLEAN_FAULT | Minor | TFTP file transfer failed: could not clean database for TFTP retry |
9 | MUM_TFTP_GENERAL_FAULT | Minor | TFTP device driver init or open failed |
| ID | Event Name | Severity |
|---|---|---|
1 | MUM_TFTPING_FAULT | Minor |
The following description appears in the ViewRunner for Windows Event History View dialog box or the ViewRunner for HP OpenView Error Events Browser:
TFTP file transfer startedThere is no impact. This event signifies that the TFTP file transfer of the image has started. The image is transferring from the server to the Cisco 6100 Series system.
No action is required. Wait for status of the image transfer.
| ID | Event Name | Severity |
|---|---|---|
2 | MUM_TFTP_SUCCESSFUL | Info |
The following description appears in the ViewRunner for Windows Event History View dialog box or the ViewRunner for HP OpenView Error Events Browser:
TFTP file transfer was successfulThere is no impact. This event signifies that the TFTP file transfer of the image was successfully transferred from the server to the Cisco 6100 Series system.
No action required.
| ID | Event Name | Severity |
|---|---|---|
3 | MUM_TFTP_TIMEOUT_FAULT | Minor |
The following description appears in the ViewRunner for Windows Event History View dialog box or the ViewRunner for HP OpenView Error Events Browser:
No DATA packet from server for 5 seconds after a RRQ or ACK packet was sentThe image did not transfer because of a timeout. This could occur as the result of invalid IP addresses, a slow network, or a network failure.
Step 1 Verify that the tftp server is configured correctly under a Solaris environment.
Step 2 Verify that the link to the tftpboot directory is created properly. Refer to the ViewRunner for HP OpenView Installation and Administration Guide for more information.
Step 3 Verify that the IP addresses are correct.
Step 4 Verify that the network is working correctly.
Step 5 Try the upgrade procedure again.
| ID | Event Name | Severity |
|---|---|---|
4 | MUM_FILE_NOT_FOUND_FAULT | Minor |
The following description appears in the ViewRunner for Windows Event History View dialog box or the ViewRunner for HP OpenView Error Events Browser:
Received something other than a DATA packet or received a out of sequence DATA packetThe requested image to download from the server could not be downloaded or network synchronization errors occurred.
Step 1 Verify that the image exists in the specified path with the correct file access permissions.
Step 2 Verify network connectivity.
Step 3 Verify the IP addresses.
| ID | Event Name | Severity |
|---|---|---|
5 | MUM_CHKSUM_FAIL_FAULT | Minor |
The following description appears in the ViewRunner for Windows Event History View dialog box or the ViewRunner for HP OpenView Error Events Browser:
TFTP file transfer failed: checksum was incorrectThe image obtained from the server failed the CRC calculation.
Verify that the CRC number in the rdf file is correct for the image and retry.
| ID | Event Name | Severity |
|---|---|---|
6 | MUM_SIZE_CHK_FAULT | Minor |
The following description appears in the ViewRunner for Windows Event History View dialog box or the ViewRunner for HP OpenView Error Events Browser:
TFTP file transfer failed: file size was incorrectThe image obtained from the server failed the size check computation.
Verify that the size parameter in the rdf file is correct and retry.
| ID | Event Name | Severity |
|---|---|---|
7 | MUM_DB_WRITE_FAULT | Minor |
The following description appears in the ViewRunner for Windows Event History View dialog box or the ViewRunner for HP OpenView Error Events Browser:
TFTP file transfer failed; image could not be written to Cisco 6100 Series system databaseA serious error occurred when the image was written to the Flash database. Flash may be full.
Step 1 Try the upgrade procedures again.
Step 2 If this failure occurs again, clear Flash and NVRAM and reset the system controller (SC) module before you attempt to perform the upgrade again.
| ID | Event Name | Severity |
|---|---|---|
8 | MUM_DB_CLEAN_FAULT | Minor |
The following description appears in the ViewRunner for Windows Event History View dialog box or the ViewRunner for HP OpenView Error Events Browser:
TFTP file transfer failed: could not clean database for TFTP retryA serious error occurred. The database in which the image is stored could not be cleaned.
Step 1 Try the upgrade procedures again.
Step 2 If this failure occurs again, clear Flash and NVRAM and reset the system controller (SC) module before you attempt to perform the upgrade again.
| ID | Event Name | Severity |
|---|---|---|
9 | MUM_TFTP_GENERAL_FAULT | Minor |
The following description appears in the ViewRunner for Windows Event History View dialog box or the ViewRunner for HP OpenView Error Events Browser:
