4.1 Improper Version Signature on CPE Modem

Event Summary

ID Event Name Severity

1

SAC_OLD_CPE_DETECT

Critical

Description

The following description appears in the ViewRunner for Windows Event History View dialog box or the ViewRunner for HP OpenView Error Events Browser:

Improper version signature on CPE modem

Impact

The CPE detection feature is used to discover CPE gear that is not capable of performing Idle or Session timeouts. During training, the CPE detection feature determines if the CPE equipment can be timer enabled. If the equipment can be timer enabled, training will continue. If the equipment cannot be timer enabled, an alarm is generated in ViewRunner and training will not be successful until the Cisco 660, Cisco 665, or Cisco 675 is updated to at least version 2.01. The line port or modem port will not train successfully until the Cisco 660, 665, or 675 is updated to at least version 2.0.1.

Action

Upgrade the CPE to at least version 2.0.1.

4.2 CPE Modem Disconnected

Event Summary

ID Event Name Severity

4

CCNX_MODEM_DISCONNECTED

Info

Description

The following description appears in the ViewRunner for Windows Event History View dialog box or the ViewRunner for HP OpenView Error Events Browser:

CPE modem disconnected

Impact

The system will reissue a train command and the session will automatically reestablish when the CPE reconnects.

Action

If the error is temporary there is no need for action. The system will automatically reestablish the connection when the CPE reconnects.

If the problem persists, contact the customer.

Description

The following description appears in the ViewRunner for Windows Event History View dialog box or the ViewRunner for HP OpenView Error Events Browser:

Near end loss of power defect

Impact

There is a momentary loss of power at the central office (CO). This event could also indicate a power supply fault on a Cisco 6100 or a Cisco 6130.

Action

The current sessions will be lost. The sessions will automatically reestablish once the power is restored.
