boldface font | Commands and keywords are in boldface. |
italic font | Arguments for which you supply values are in italics. |
[ ] | Elements in square brackets are optional. |
{ x | y | z } | Alternative keywords are grouped in braces and separated by vertical bars. |
[ x | y | z ] | Optional alternative keywords are grouped in brackets and separated by vertical bars. |
string | A nonquoted set of characters. Do not use quotation marks around the string or the string will include the quotation marks. |
Examples that contain system prompts denote interactive sessions, indicating the commands you should enter at the prompt. The system prompt indicates the current level of the EXEC command interpreter. For example, the prompt "Switch>" indicates that you are at the user level, and the prompt "Switch(config)#" indicates that you are at the configuration level. Access to the privileged level usually requires a password. Refer to the related software configuration and reference publications for additional information.
