This chapter describes procedures for confirming the successful hardware installation and initial configuration of the ATM switch processor (ASP), and includes the following sections:
Problems with the initial startup are often caused by an interface processor or power supply that has become dislodged from the backplane or chassis power connector during shipment. Although over-temperature conditions rarely occur at initial startup, the environmental monitoring functions are included because they also monitor DC line voltages. At the initial system boot, verify the following:
When these conditions are met, the hardware installation is complete. If the startup sequence fails before these conditions are met, use the procedures in this chapter to isolate and, if possible, resolve the problem. If you are unable to solve the problem, contact a customer service representative for assistance and further instructions. Before you call, gather the following information:
The following example shows the first few screens from the output of the show diag power-on command:
Switch> show diag power-on

The flowchart in Figure 4-1 helps you determine which component of your LightStream 1010 ATM switch might have malfunctioned.

This section describes the LEDs used to confirm and troubleshoot operation of the ASP. The LEDs on the ASP indicate the status of the ASP, fan assembly, and power supplies. The ASP LEDs are shown in Figure 4-2 and described in Table 4-1.

| LED | Color | Description |
|---|---|---|
Green | The system has passed internal self-tests and diagnostic tests. | |
| Red | The system has failed internal self-tests and diagnostic tests. |
| Orange | The system is booting or a module is disabled. |
Green | The fan is operational. | |
| Red | The fan is not operational. |
Green | The power supply is operational. | |
| Red | The power supply is installed but not operational. |
| Off | The power supply is not installed. |

| Off | The power supply is not installed. |
Green | The Ethernet port is operational. | |
| Off | No signal is detected on the Ethernet port. |
Flashing green | Ethernet packets are being received. The pulse rate increases with the data rate. | |
