Catalyst 8540 MSR channelized E1 Frame Relay port adapter functional image name fi-c8540-4e1.A.3.1
This document describes the features and caveats for Cisco functional image, fi-c8540-4e1.A.3.1, for the 4CE1 channelized E1 Frame Relay port adapters used with the Catalyst 8540 MSR.
This version of functional image fixes the DDTS listed in the section "Caveats" later in this release note.
This release note includes the following sections:
The Catalyst 8540 MSR provide switched ATM connections to individual workstations, servers, LAN segments, or other ATM switches and routers using fiber-optic, unshielded twisted-pair (UTP), and coaxial cable.
The channelized E1 Frame Relay port adapter facilitates interworking between a Frame Relay network, an ATM network, and network users. Existing Frame Relay users can also migrate to higher bandwidth ATM using channelized Frame Relay port adapters. Additionally, these port adapters extend the ATM network across a wide area over a frame-based serial line or intervening Frame Relay WAN.
This section describes the process you use to determine the existing functional image version installed on your channelized E1 Frame Relay port adapter.
To display the functional image version in a channelized E1 Frame Relay port adapter, use the following command in privileged EXEC mode:

 | Caution Functional image download can not be reverted back once the download is started. Do not interrupt the download procedure. Wait until it has finished before attempting any commands on the switch. Confirm that the download is done in binary mode and check file sizes before and after download. A failure during reprogramming can result in the card being unusable. |
