Installing the Cisco Service Selection Dashboard

UNIX Installation

This section describes how to install the Cisco Service Selection Dashboard (Cisco SSD) in a UNIX environment.

Java Installation

To install the Java Runtime Environment (JRE):

Step 1 Download the Solaris_JRE_1.1.7_05_sparc.bin file.

Step 2 If there is a previous installation of the JRE and the old directory contains files you want to keep, rename the old directory.

Step 3 In a shell window, enter the following commands:

    % chmod a+x Solaris_JRE_1.1.7_05_sparc.bin
    % ./Solaris_JRE_1.1.7_05_sparc.bin
     
    

Step 4 To recover disk space, delete the Solaris_JRE_1.1.7_05_sparc.bin file after installation is complete.

Cisco SSD Installation

To install the Cisco SSD software:

Step 1 Copy the dashboard.sh file to a temporary directory.

Step 2 Change to the directory and enter the following:

    ./dashboard.sh
     
    

Step 3 The installation program begins by looking for a JRE:

Step 4 Follow the prompts until the SSG Configuration screen appears. Enter the IP address of the Cisco SSG, the port number the Cisco SSG uses to listen for Remote Access Dial-In User Service (RADIUS) synchronous request/response messages (default: 1645), and the shared secret used to communicate with the Cisco SSG. Click Next.

The Service Group Password screen appears.

Step 5 Enter the password used in service and service group profiles. Click Next.

The Primary AAA Server Configuration screen appears.

Step 6 Enter the IP address and port number of the Message server. The Message server runs on the same machine as the Dashboard server. However, the server might have more than one IP address. Click Next.

The Primary AAA Server Configuration screen appears.

Step 7 Enter the IP address, port number, and shared secret of the primary AAA server. Click Next.

The Secondary AAA Server Configuration screen appears.

Step 8 Enter the IP address, port number, and shared secret of the secondary AAA server. Click Next.

The Choose Destination Location screen appears.

Step 9 Choose a destination for the Cisco SSD files and click Install.

The installation program begins copying files.

Step 10 To start the Cisco SSD, execute the following script:

    startDS
    

Windows NT Installation

This section describes how to install the Cisco SSD in a Windows NT environment.

Java Installation

To install the JRE:

Step 1 Download the jre117B-win32.exe file.

Step 2 Using Windows NT Explorer, locate and double-click on the file.

Step 3 Follow the installation instructions.

Step 4 To recover disk space, delete the jre117B-win32.exe file after installation is complete.

Cisco SSD Installation

To install the Cisco SSD software:

Step 1 Copy the dashboard.exe file to a temporary directory.

Step 2 Using Windows NT Explorer, locate and double-click on the file.

Step 3 The installation program begins by looking for a JRE:

Step 4 Follow the prompts until the SSG Configuration screen appears. Enter the IP address of the Cisco SSG, the port number the Cisco SSG uses to listen for RADIUS synchronous request/response messages (default: 1645), and the shared secret used to communicate with the Cisco SSG. Click Next.

The Message Service Configuration screen appears.

Step 5 Enter the IP address and port number of the Message server. The Message server runs on the same machine as the Dashboard server. However, the server might have more than one IP address. Click Next.

Step 6 Enter the IP address, port number, and shared secret of the primary AAA server. Click Next.

Step 9 To start the Cisco SSD, start Windows NT Explorer. Then locate and double-click on the startDS.bat file.
