This preface discusses the objectives, audience, organization, and conventions of this hardware installation guide.
This guide explains how to install your router and Network Equipment Business Systems (NEBS) Level 3 and European Telecommunication Standards Institute (ETSI) kit hardware.
Although this guide provides minimum router installation information, it is not comprehensive. For detailed installation information, see the publication Cisco 3600 Series Hardware Installation Guide. This and other companion publications are available on the Documentation CD-ROM that came with your router, or you can order printed copies. (See the "Documentation CD-ROM" section.)
This guide describes several router models that are similar in functionality, but differ in the number of interfaces supported. Some information provided may not apply to your particular router model.
Warranty, service, and support information is in the Cisco Information Packet that shipped with the router.
This guide is designed for the person installing, configuring, and maintaining the router, who should be familiar with electronic circuitry and wiring practices and has experience as an electronic or electromechanical technician. It identifies certain procedures that should be performed only by trained and qualified personnel.
This hardware installation guide contains the following chapters:
| Chapter | Title | Description |
|---|---|---|
Chapter 1 | Lists the contents of the NEBS/ETSI kits that are shipped with Cisco 3620, 3640, and 3660 routers. | |
Chapter 2 | Describes safety recommendations, guidelines, and precautions to follow in order to prevent damage from electrostatic discharge. | |
Chapter 3 | Lists tools and equipment necessary to complete this installation, describes rack-mounting procedures, and lists references for network connection instructions. | |
Chapter 4 | Describes how to install the bracket and grounding lug on your Cisco 3620 or 3640 router power supply, and then complete the installation by applying labels included in the kit. | |
Chapter 5 | Describes how to install the grounding lug, chassis shield, and alarm terminal block on your Cisco 3660 router. |
