This section explains the objectives, intended audience, and organization of the Cisco Optical Networking System 15304 Hardware Installation Guide. It also describes the document conventions used in this guide and how to get the latest version of this publication and related documentation.
This guide describes the system hardware, specifications, and procedures for unpacking and installing your Cisco Optical Networking System (ONS) 15304 router, referred to in this document as the Cisco ONS 15304. This guide also describes how to configure the Cisco ONS 15304. Appendix A provides sample configuration files, Appendix B identifies certain legal requirements, and Appendix C contains the homologation compliance statement.
This guide is for the person installing and configuring the Cisco ONS 15304 for the first time. The person should have intermediate to advanced knowledge of Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) networking concepts.
This installation guide is organized into the following chapters and appendixes:
