Cisco has assembled a comprehensive set of WAN management tools that extend the CiscoWorks2000 family to provide new solutions-based offerings targeted at functional areas of end-to-end network management. The new Routed WAN Management Solution offers a collection of powerful network management applications for configuring, administering, monitoring, and troubleshooting the complexity associated with managing router devices in a wide area network (WAN). Its traffic tools monitors a device`s built-in mini-ATM Remote Monitoring (RMON), and in addition, can access full RMON statistics collected via one of our LAN, WAN and RMON family of probes. The Routed WAN Management Solution can be deployed "standalone" or "alongside" your existing NMS products. This reduces the complexities related to understanding multi-dimensional, cross product prerequisites. It complies with Internet standards and can be used to create a Management Intranet. This framework offers an integrated, web-browser-based access point to enterprise management tools and offers a 'load-n-launch` interface to popular NMS products and best-of-breed point tools without being tied to proprietary APIs. The following applications are included in the Routed WAN Management Solution offering: Access Control List Manager (ACL) Internet Performance Monitor (IPM) Traffic Director (TD) Resource Manager Essentials (RME) CiscoView-web version (CD-One) The CiscoWorks2000 Routed WAN Management Solution is aimed at providing a set of robust applications and functionality for managing the router elements of a wide area network and the infrastructure which supports them. The following highlights key features and benefits broken out by the Routed WAN Solution`s applications. Access List Manager 1.1 provides a wizard and template based approach to simplifying the setup, management and optimization of Cisco IOS-based IP and IPX traffic filtering and device access control. ACL Manager significantly reduces the time typically required to manage and administrate access control lists. Access Control List authoring interface Network and service class manager for scalability and efficiency Access list template manager for implementing filtering policies Access Control List use wizard to assist in the consistent deployment of ACLs Access List Optimizer to help reduce ACL size and optimize device performance DiffViewer to clearly review and identify changes being made Downloader to assist in the consistent and accurate download of ACL changes to the network TrafficDirector 5.7.2 is a comprehensive network traffic monitoring and troubleshooting application providing WAN Managers with early visibility into WAN network issues and problems before they become critical or cause degradation. Used in conjunction with Cisco`s WAN Probes, TD provides all the necessary tools needed to monitor link performance and utilization Troubleshoots and isolates problems in the network as well as provides real-time and historical statistics, Graphs and reports for doing network capacity planning Internetwork Performance Monitor 2.0 is a network response time and availability troubleshooting application that enables WAN Managers to proactively troubleshoot network response times utilizing instrumentation inside the devices on the network. Provides increased visibility into actual round trip response times between key Cisco IOS based devices on the network Reports the responsiveness of WAN connection to determine where bottlenecks are. Provides real-time analysis of end-to-end hop delays Provide information useful in optimizing VPN environments IPM`s real-time and historical reports are web accessible Resource Manager Essentials 3.0 is a powerful suite of web-based network management solutions for small to large scale Enterprise networks. RME is the basis for building a "Management Intranet" Provides network inventory and device change management Device configuration and software image management tools Network availability and syslog analysis Powerful integration links to Cisco`s support Web site (CCO) along with Cisco`s partners and third parties CiscoView 5.0 is a new web-version of Cisco`s most widely used graphical device management application. CiscoView is included on the CD-One along with other CiscoWorks2000 management server components. Anytime anywhere access to detailed device information Graphical views of devices with color-coded indications of status Browser access to configuration and monitoring tools The following table contains general system requirements for the CiscoWorks2000 management server and its client components. System requirements will increase depending on how individual RWAN applications are installed. For more detailed system requirements and recommendations for tuning the management system for performance, refer to individual RWAN application`s installations guides and release notes.
