Problem determination in a mixed SNA and TCP/IP environment can be very difficult, because the tools available for diagnosis are inadequate. When an end user calls in with a network problem, it may take a long time to identify the root cause of the problem before resolution of the problem can begin. To help overcome this problem, SNA View has been extended to provide management of all types of SNA sessions. SNA View now gathers information about traditional subarea SNA sessions; SNA sessions using Data-Link Switching (DLSw), Advanced Peer-to-Peer Networking (APPN), and remote source-route bridging (RSRB); and TN3270 sessions using Cisco TN3270 Server. To provide quick access to this information, SNA View provides an easy-to-use Web interface, which takes whatever information an end user can provide and quickly highlights the probable cause of the problem. The Session Connectivity Display provides a color-coded view of all of the resources that are involved in the end-to-end connection. The likely cause of a session outage is highlighted with a red arrow that points to the resource icon. Resource icons can be selected to activate hotlinks to other diagnostic tools, such as the HTML interface to Tivoli NetView for OS/390 for SNA resources; CiscoView and CiscoWorks2000 for Cisco devices; CiscoWorks Blue Maps for DLSw, APPN, and RSRB sessions; and Cisco TN3270 Monitor for TN3270 resources. By quickly graphing the session connectivity and highlighting the likely cause of a session outage, SNA View lets help desk operators troubleshoot most SNA network problems, saving time and increasing availability. CiscoWorks Blue SNA View Version 2.1 does not require CiscoWorks Blue Maps, or CiscoWorks for UNIX Version 2.1 of CiscoWorks Blue SNA View provides the following enhancements: - Support of PU4 to PU4 Sessions over DLSw - Support of IETF draft standard DLSW MIB, RFC 2024 - Support of IETF draft standard APPN MIB, RFC 2455 - Support of IETF draft standard DLUR MIB, RFC 2232 - Support of SNA Switching Services feature of Cisco IOS - Support of Branch Extender Network Node Type - Support of Solaris LU 6.2 Connectivity to the Mainframe CiscoWorks Blue SNA View

Web-based Search Feature:
Provides access from any location, using popular Web browsers. Search fields include items that an end-user will know, or can easily determine.
Basic Search Panel - Used by Help Desk operators and end-users. Search by wildcarded LU name, PU name, IP address or MAC address
Advanced Search Panel - Used by Network Administrators. Search by protocol type, status, APPN information, and combinations of PU name and LU name.
Filter Results List:
If the search criteria does not uniquely identify a single session, the Filter Results list provides session data based upon the search results. Examples of returned information include:
PU or LU Name
VTAM Status
Client MAC and SAP address
Destination MAC and SAP address
XID
Control Point Name
DLUR/DLUS name
TN3270 Server Name
Session Connectivity Display
SNA View provides end-to-end views of SNA sessions. These views are developed from a database of information that SNA View gathers from VTAM, the router network, and the TN3270 Servers for CIP and CPA.
All of the resources between the end-station and the mainframe are shown.
Provides the SNA perspective, the router`s perspective (DLSw, APPN, RSRB), and the TN3270 perspective.
Presents historical perspective if session is not active
Highlights first failing resource with a large red arrow
Integration with Diagnostic Tools
To aid in problem diagnosis, SNA View provides access to network management tools that are appropriate for the different SNA Network types.
Integration with HTML version of Tivoli for OS/390 for SNA resources
Integration with CiscoView for Cisco devices
Integration with CiscoWorks 2000 Device Center for Cisco Devices
Integration with CiscoWorks Blue Maps for DLSw, APPN, and RSRB sessions
