Product Overview

The CiscoWorks2000 LAN Management Solution (LMS) is a solution set within the CiscoWorks2000 enterprise management product family. The CiscoWorks2000 LAN Management Solution features a comprehensive set of Web-based management tools for configuring, administering, monitoring, and troubleshooting the campus network.

The LAN Management Solution consists of operationally focused tools useful in managing the day-to-day operations of critical services and links found in an enterprise campus network. These tools include scalable topology views, sophisticated configuration, Layer 2 / Layer 3 path analysis, traffic monitoring, end-station tracking, and device troubleshooting capabilities.

Key Features and Benefits

Campus Manager

Campus Manager is a suite of Web-based applications designed for managing today`s Cisco-powered switched networks.

Content Flow Monitor

Content Flow Monitor is a Web-based performance monitoring application for managing Cisco server load balancing devices. It is an essential visualization tool for understanding, navigating and trouble-shooting content flows.

TrafficDirector

TrafficDirector is a comprehensive, RMON-based network traffic monitoring and troubleshooting application that provides LAN managers with early visibility into switched network issues and problems before they become critical and potentially cause service degradation.

Resource Manager Essentials

Resource Mangager Essntials is a powerful suite of Web-based network management applications for small to large-scale enterprise networks.

CiscoView

CiscoView, the most widely used Cisco graphical device management application is now Web-based.

Specifications

The following table contains general system requirements for the CiscoWorks2000 management server and its client components. System requirements may increase depending on how individual LAN applications are installed. For more detailed system requirements and recommendations for tuning the management system for performance, refer to individual application installation guides and release notes.

  • Sun SPARC Ultra 60 MP or Pentium III 550 MHz multiprocessor

  • 17-inch color monitor

  • CD-ROM drive

Minimum configuration supports up to 500 devices.

Memory (RAM)

512 MB minimum.

Available drive space

6 GB on the installation partition. Swap space equal to double the RAM (1 GB in this case).

System software

Solaris 2.6 - with required patches: 105181-15, 105210-17, 105490-05, 105529-07, and 105568-13

Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 server or NT 4.0 workstation with Service Pack 5

Client / Browser

  • IBM PC-compatible with 300 MHz Pentium II w/ windows NT, 95/98, Solaris Sparc or Sun ultra 10 with Solaris 2.5.1 or 2.6

  • IBM RS/6000 with AIX 4.3.3

  • HP-UX with HP-UX 10.20 or 11.0

Browser

  • IE 5.0 or 5.01 with JVM 5.0.0.3186 or later (windows NT, windows 95/98)

  • Netscape navigator 4.6.1 or 4.7

Supported Devices

Most Cisco IOS routers, access servers, hubs, and switches. Specific devices supported by LMS applications are available on the Cisco Software Support Center web site under each products Planner Page.

Supported Cisco IOS Versions

Generally supports Cisco IOS Versions 10.3 and above; Catalyst Supervisor code 2.1 and above. Testing focused on Y2K certified versions

NMS Co-Existence Support

LMS applications that have NMS integration points support the following NMS:

  • HP OpenView 5.01, 6.0 on HP-UX, Solaris

  • HP OpenView 5.02 and 6.0 on NT

  • NetView 5.1 on NT and AIX
