Product Overview

Cisco ViewRunner for HP OpenView is a Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)-based multiprotocol management software package designed specifically for configuring networks of Cisco 6100 Series Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) Access Concentrators equipped with the NI1 architecture. It provides integrated service management and process automation to simplify the management of even the most complex networks. Cisco ViewRunner for HP OpenView allows service providers to easily provision connections, detect faults, configure devices, and track network statistics.

Cisco ViewRunner for HP OpenView is designed to address the significant demands in managing and operating digital subscriber line networks. Cisco ViewRunner for HP OpenView has a robust, scalable architecture that meets the demands of end-to-end Layer 2 configuration, fault, and performance management control and operation in very large networks. Based on a robust, scalable architecture, Cisco ViewRunner for HP OpenView meets today`s business requirements for the control and operation of DSL Access Concentrators.

• Provides topology management as it automatically discovers Cisco 6100 Series DSL Access Concentrators and displays a graphical topology map

• Features a patent pending intelligent configuration synchronization which ensures an always accurate view of each managed Cisco 6100 Series DSL Access Concentrator

• Contains fault management capabilities handled through HP OpenView`s Event Browser or ViewRunner`s own current alarm window

• Supports Configuration Management through both discovery of existing configuration information as well as pre-provisioning of subscribers, connections and modules

• Provides a configuration save and restore mechanism, both scheduled and on demand

• Supports software and firmware download and upgrades

• Provides security management via three permission levels for users, as well as partitioning of access to data and functionality

ViewRunner for HP OpenView is sold on a right-to-use basis, and is priced according to the number of Cisco 6100 Series DSL Access Concentrators that are being managed within the network. Five service pack sizes are offered:

• Entry Service Pack

• Small Service Pack

• Medium Service Pack

• Large Service Pack

• Site License

Separate part numbers are also offered to upgrade from one size service pack to the next. Finally, upgrades from previous releases to the current release are offered, also based on the five-tier model. Service and Support contracts are available, both with and without upgrades. The Service and Support with Upgrades contract is highly recommended.

Documentation is included in electronic format on the CD-ROM with the software. Hard copy manuals are available separately.
