The VCO/4K is a high density, open programmable switch designed for the deployment of enhanced voice services. The open telephony architecture of this versatile, carrier-class platform allows more than 40 Cisco Voice Application Partners to develop a wide variety of solutions for mixed environment and packet telephony networks, including: enhanced voice services, mixed environment gateways, and Internet offload solutions. This open architecture approach makes rapid deployment of enhanced voice services possible for carriers because they are not required to wait for proprietary solutions developed through a single vendor. Today, Cisco can provide voice solutions that span over 30 application categories. Examples include: unified voice/fax/E-mail communications, pre- and post-paid calling card, single number services, tandem switching, internet offload, operator services, voice dialing, information services, conference calling, web-initiated services and directory assistance.
