Cisco Transport Manager (CTM) is the carrier-class element management system (EMS) for the Cisco Optical Networking Systems, i.e. products in the ONS 15000 series. Introduced in June 2000, CTM 2.0 provides fault, inventory, configuration, performance, and security management with interfaces to NMS/OSS systems using industry standard protocols. CTM is based on a robust, scalable client/server architecture The following are key features of CTM: Integrated element and sub-network management of a Cisco Optical Network in a single, scalable platform Intuitive Java-based graphical user interface (GUI) that provides a familiar Windows "look-and-feel" on both Microsoft Windows and Sun Solaris client platforms. User-defined Domain Explorer network views with "bubble up" alarm severity propagation and drill-down capabilities to isolate fault conditions in support of service assurance Geographic Domain Map and Topology Explorer views that reflect the physical layout and configuration of the network Alarm and Event Browser views that provide a comprehensive tabular display of all current and historical alarms and events A desktop-resident Dashboard that provides constant alarm status for the CTM operator`s entire span of control while other tasks are being executed, with quick access to the key/all open CTM windows Real-time network surveillance with configurable "popup" alarm and event notifications Extensive performance monitoring (PM) statistics collected across the SONET/SDH, DS1/E1, and Ethernet interfaces available for display or export Low-cost of entry and ownership Ease of learning and use due to familiar Windows look and feel on both Microsoft Windows and Sun Solaris client platforms Comprehensive inventory and configuration management and user administration Easy access to status of all NEs within the management domain Quick appraisal of a CTM user`s span of control through domain partitioning Rapid fault isolation and assessment of service delivery impact Excellent performance and scalability for investment protection Industry standard Oracle8 database allows easy access to all stored data CTM 2.0 manages the following ONS products Cisco ONS 15454 Release 2.1.3 Cisco ONS 15303 Release 1.0.0, 1.0.1 Cisco ONS 15304 Release 1.0.0, 1.0.1 The CTM 2.0 Server is supported on Sun Solaris 2.7 only, while the CTM 2.0 Client is 100% Java and is supported on any standard Java 2 host platform such as Windows 95/98, Windows NT, or Sun Solaris. The CTM 2.0 Server also uses the Oracle8 database. The following is a list of the prerequisite software for CTM 2.0 Server and Client: For CTM 2.0 Server Sun Solaris 2.7 Operating System with patches 106980-05, 107078-18, 107607-01, and 107636-03 Sun Microsystems` Java 2 Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.2.2 (provided on Solaris CD) Sun Solaris Desktop-to-Server upgrade Oracle8 Enterprise Server version 8.0.5 with user licenses for Sun SPARC Solaris with patch set 8.0.5.2.1 For CTM 2.0 Client on Windows Windows 95/98 or NT 4.0 Operating System Sun Microsystems` JRE version 1.2.2 (provided on Solaris CD) For CTM 2.0 Client on Sun Solaris Sun Solaris 2.7 Operating System with Common Desktop Environment Sun Microsystems` JRE version 1.2.2 (provided on Solaris CD) New Product: Cisco Transport Manager 2.0
