New Product: Cisco MGX 8260 — Media Gateway

Product Overview

The Cisco MGX 8260 is a high-density, carrier-class gateway that intelligently switches TDM and voice over IP (VoIP) traffic across packet networks. It provides service providers with a SS7-PRI gateway solution which redirects data traffic to more efficient packet networks while freeing up costly TDM resources for voice calls. Carriers can benefit from immediate cost savings by integrating the Cisco MGX 8260 gateway with existing circuit switches and diverting all data calls onto Network Access Servers (NAS).

The Cisco MGX 8260 cost effectively delivers the highest density TDM and VoIP gateway with capacity to support up to 170,000 DS0s per rack, and does it with high availability (99.999%) that carriers demand. The Cisco MGX 8260 gateway provides support for direct T1/E1 interfaces, channelized T3 interfaces, and Fast Ethernet (100Base-T) interfaces.
