The Cisco FastHub 300 series of 100BaseT hubs combines all the benefits of stackable hubs with unmatched configuration flexibility, affordability and integrated Cisco IOS technologies. These modular, Class II repeaters deliver 10 times the performance of 10BaseT hubs and provide a choice of modules for a combination of cost-effective 10BaseT and 100BaseT bridging, integrated management and port expansion for a highly scalable, manageable and resilient solution. The FastHub 300 series hubs are ideal high-performance alternatives to 10BaseT hubs, delivering affordable 100-Mbps performance to workgroups and server farms. The FastHub 316T comes equipped with 16 100BaseTX ports for connecting your workstations and servers with inexpensive UTP wiring. The FastHub 316C has 15 100BaseTX ports and one100BaseFX port for linking UTP devices to a fiber Fast Ethernet backbone. Both hubs expand easily to 32 ports within a single unit by simply installing a 100BaseTX/16 port module in an expansion slot. The module is hot-swappable, so you can add users without powering down the network and disrupting existing users. Up to four fully configured FastHub 300 series hubs can be interconnected using a hub expansion cable to create a single, 128-port logical repeater. For the ultimate in expandability, the hub`s unique Class II design lets you connect two of these 128-port stacks directly together in a single collision domain. The design also lets you distribute and connect hubs and hub stacks in separate wiring closets without requiring an intermediate switch, bridge or router. EOL: Cisco FastHub 300 Series Hubs

The FastHub 300 series supports the following applications:
Connecting Legacy 10BaseT Hubs to 100BaseT Environments: A FastHub 300 series repeater can be used to create a high-performance network while preserving investment in 10BaseT equipment. A FastHub 300 base unit configured with an expansion module will support a total of 32 100BaseT users or servers. The BMM`s 10BaseT and 100BaseT bridging functionality provides connectivity to a legacy 10BaseT hub and a direct connection from the hub to a 100BaseT-enabled switch or router.
Interconnecting FastHub 300 Series Hubs Over Extended Distances: A network can be designed using FastHub 300 series repeaters to deliver 100-Mbps throughput for high-performance data transfers for workgroups and server farms over an extended distance. Two BMM-enabled FastHub repeaters (or FastHub stacks) can be used to interconnect 100BaseT workgroups and server farms when wiring closets are further apart than the allowable distance defined by the Class II repeater design guideline.
Connecting FastHub 300 Series Hubs to the Backbone Over Extended Distances: FastHub 300 series hubs or stacks can connect workgroups and server farms to a campus backbone at a distance of up to 2 kilometers. FastHub 300 series hubs or stacks each with a BMM-100BaseFX can be located up to 2 kilometers from the corporate backbone cabling.
