There are two different dedicated Ethernet network modules available for the Cisco 2600 and 3600 series routers: 1-port and 4-port. The 1-port Ethernet network module has one Ethernet attachment unit interface (AUI) DB-15 connector and one 10BaseT RJ-45 connector. Only one of these two connections can be active at a time.

The 4-port Ethernet network module supports up to four Ethernet connections. Ethernet port 0 uses either the AUI (DB-15) connector on the right side of the module or the 10BaseT (RJ-45) connector next to it, but only one of these two connections can be active at a time. Ethernet ports 1, 2 and 3 use 10BaseT connectors; these ports do not provide an AUI connector.
When used in the Cisco 2600 series, these modules provide additional LAN segmentation or can provide Token Ring to Ethernet migration capability when used with the Cisco 2613.
