The compression network module compresses and decompresses data passing through interfaces on other network modules or WAN interface cards in the router. The following interfaces are supported:

Hardware compression uses the STAC (QIC-122) compression algorithm and is supported using PPP for point to point links and FRF.9 for Frame Relay Links (FRF.9 requires IOS version 11.3).
