Cisco Element Management Framework (Cisco EMF) is the homogeneous element management layer of the Cisco Service Management (CSM) system. It comprises a highly scalable framework designed to support carrier-class element managers across Cisco`s service-provider product lines. This flexible, modular model allows service providers to install the mix of element managers they need to support their dynamic businesses. It also enables rapid development and deployment of new element managers, permitting service providers to more aggressively introduce new services and manage them efficiently. Cisco EMF provides common interfaces and element management services to applications in the network and service management levels of CSM. Cisco`s EcoSystem partners can also build third-party element management systems to provide element management support in mixed network environments. Scalable support for element management without affecting performance. Cisco Element Management Framework (CEMF) can grow as the network develops from the smallest trial to a fully operational, very large network Cost-effective network management infrastructure for multiple technologies. A single CEMF server can manage several different device technologies Reduced cost of operation with flexible application features including multiple network device query operations and ease of navigation Carrier class user security control of both functional access and access specifications governing for example geographic or organizational restrictions on user application use Faster introduction of services to market because of immediate integration with newly developed element managers CORBA based integration with network and service management applications, legacy and proprietary systems Improved availability with new element managers installed without loss of service Cisco Element Management Framework

Cisco Element Management Framework is sold on a per management server basis, and from CEMF 3.0 is licensed according to the Host name and Host Id. of the Sun hardware installed as the main management server. Upon initial installation the software runs on a temporary 30 day license. Customers ordering full or entry level product can download permanent licenses via CCO
An entry level Cisco EMF product is provided in support of entry-level element managers where market drivers for specific technologies require a low-cost offering for initial deployments. The entry-level product consists of the standard CEMF package plus a Right to Use Certificate specifying support for up to 10,000 managed objects (e.g. approx. 2,500 lines of DSL). Separate part numbers are also offered for customers subsequently ordering an upgrade to the full CEMF license. These customers will be issued with a full Right to Use Certificate.
Upgrades from previous releases to the current release are offered. Service and Support contracts are available, both with and without upgrades and are equally applicable to the entry level product. The Service and Support with Upgrades contract is highly recommended.
User Guide, Release Notes and Installation Manual Documentation are included in the hard copy in the product packaging.
