OC-3/STM-1 with CES ATM Network Modules

Three new single port OC-3/STM-1 ATM Circuit Emulation Services (CES) network modules are now available for the Cisco 3600 Series and the new 2650 and 2651 Multiservice Access routers that provide ATM Forum compliant Circuit Emulation Service. All three network modules support STS-3c or STM-1 ATM Forum framing standards over Multimode, Singlemode Intermediate Reach, and Singlemode Long Reach fiber optic interfaces. The OC-3/STM1 CES network modules have an available slot for the insertion of either a 1 or 2-port Multiflex VWIC to establish the trunk connection to the PBX for either Structured or Unstructured CES. There are currently 6 versions of the Multiflex VWIC`s that are supported by the OC-3/STM-1 CES network modules and are required to be ordered separately.

Key Features

Fully interoperable with today`s existing PSTN infrastructure, Circuit Emulation Service allow transport of traditional PCM-encoded 64Kbps circuit-based voice over ATM by emulating a circuit across the ATM network using Permanent Virtual Circuits (PVCs) and Switched Virtual Circuits (SVCs). PVC-based CES allows the next-generation service provider to quickly deliver local or long distance voice that is interoperable with the existing PSTN, while SVC capabilities will ensure that these services can be optimized for maximum profitability.

The OC-3/STM-1 CES network modules provide a cost-effective solution that can be deployed as Service Provider customer premise equipment (CPE) for consolidating multiservice data, voice and video services over a single ATM link. The OC-3/STM-1 network modules provide Constant Bit Rate (CBR) capabilities for voice and video applications that require guaranteed bandwidth across the ATM network. Integrated Echo Cancellation, with up to 128ms of user configurable delay can be used for up to 30 DS0`s in a single T1 or E1 trunk
