Cisco Access Registrar (AR) supports service provider deployment of access services by centralizing authentication, authorization and accounting information (AAA) and simplifying provisioning and management. AR is a standards-based RADIUS and proxy RADIUS server designed for high-performance, extensibility and directory-integration. AR provides greater out-of-the-box policy enforcement support, configuration replication for multi-server deployments and a number of additional features to simplify administration and troubleshooting. AR is Cisco"s new RADIUS AAA solution for the service provider market. Authentication against an LDAP directory Retrieval of user/service authorization parameters from an LDAP directory Extension points for supporting custom applications or requirements Proxy RADIUS for support of wholesale dial, remote access outsourcing and global roaming applications IETF tunneling support for standards-based tunneling User and group session limit enforcement IP address pool management Support for Cisco 6400 VPI/VCI CPE authentication Support for Cisco SSG Support for Cisco IOS AAA pre-call management features Support multiple services (dial, wholesale dial, DSL, SSG) with a single AAA platform High-performance architecture reduces the number of AAA servers that must be deployed Provides service providers with an off-the-shelf, standards-based RADIUS server that also provides the flexibility and extensibility previously only available by maintaining "homegrown" versions of public domain RADIUS software. Reduces operational costs and speeds service rollout by supporting integration with provisioning, billing and other service management components via directory support and scriptable configuration interfaces Cisco Access Registrar runs on Sun Solaris/SPARC hardware with Solaris 2.6 or 2.7.
