The Cisco 633 serial to Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line (SDSL) data service unit (DSU) is designed for small offices and branch offices to provide cost-effective access to high-speed SDSL services. The Cisco 633 preserves the customer`s investment in existing business class routers, allowing them to take advantage of New World applications and Packet Telephony. The Cisco 633 provides small offices and branch offices with fast, affordable, and easy-to-use access to the Internet and corporate network. The Cisco 633 serial SDSL DSU allows DSL services and applications to be available to the office router or to the desktop. It supports an integrated SDSL WAN interface and a serial interface to the router and can operate at symmetric speeds of up to 1168 kbps. The Cisco 633 features: SDSL WAN SupportThe Cisco 633 SDSL supports synchronous serial full duplex bidirectional data transport of up to 1168 kbps 2B1Q Line EncodingThe de facto standard for SDSL transport and the same encoding used by ISDN Data terminal equipment (DTE) and data communication equipment (DCE) SupportBoth DTE and DCE modes are supported; the Cisco 633 can either provide or receive clock signals Software OptionsSTUC for back-to-back operation (available worldwide) Synchronous Serial InterfaceThe serial interface is a 12 in 1 connector and supports both V.35 and X.21 protocols Cable options are available to connect the 12 in 1 connector on the Cisco 633 to other 12 in 1 or 5 in 1 serial connectors on the business router. Frame Relay to ATM InterworkingThe Cisco 633 supports FRF.8 Frame/ATM service interworking, it maps Frame data-link connection identifiers (DLCIs) to ATM permanent virtual circuits (PVCs); up to four VCs can be configured in the Cisco 633 PPP-over-ATM SupportBecause the Cisco 633 operates as a serial DSU, transparent support for any protocol is available, including support for PPP over ATM for easy and secure navigation support and integration with Cisco leadership Multiple DSL LinksDSL connection can be banded using the Multilink PPP enabled on business-class routers, such as the Cisco 3600 to significantly improve the throughput of the WAN connection. With the addition of a second serial interface and Cisco 633 serial SDSL DSU, the theoretical throughput of the WAN connection can effectively be doubled Priority QueuesThe Cisco 633 supports high- and low-priority traffic queues for prioritizing voice and data traffic across the WAN link Management SupportThe 633 is managed through a command-line interface accessible locally through the management serial port or remotely through Layer 3 in-band management features Safety and ComplianceThe Cisco 633 is designed for worldwide safety and electromagnetic certifications (EMC) Cisco 633 Serial SDSL Data Service Unit
