What's New in Cisco Documentation
October 2000
This document lists the additions and revisions to the Cisco Documentation CD-ROMs made since the last release. It is divided into three sections: "New Documents," "Revised Documents," and "Obtaining Technical Assistance."
Note Reinstall the Cisco Documentation CD software each time you receive a new issue of the CDs to ensure that you are always running the latest version.
The following documents appear on the Cisco Documentation CDs for the first time:
- Describes how to use the Cisco Digital Subscriber Line Manager software to configure and manage Cisco 6015 DSLAM NI-2 chassis. The guide includes hardware and software overviews; instructions for configuring the system, subscribers, and connections; and instructions for viewing status, performance, inventory, and alarm information. This guide also includes how to configure subtending systems and set up IMA configurations.
- Describes how to use the Cisco Digital Subscriber Line Manager software to configure and manage Cisco 6100/6130 DSLAM NI-2 chassis. The guide includes hardware and software overviews; instructions for configuring the system, subscribers, and connections; and instructions for viewing status, performance, inventory, and alarm information. This guide also includes how to configure subtending systems.
- Describes how to use the Cisco Digital Subscriber Line Manager software to configure and manage Cisco 6160 DSLAM NI-2 chassis. The guide includes hardware and software overviews; instructions for configuring the system, subscribers, and connections; and instructions for viewing status, performance, inventory, and alarm information. This guide also includes how to configure subtending systems.
- Describes how to use the Cisco Digital Subscriber Line Manager software to configure and manage Cisco 6260 DSLAM NI-2 chassis. The guide includes hardware and software overviews; instructions for configuring the system, subscribers, and connections; and instructions for viewing status, performance, inventory, and alarm information. This guide also includes how to configure subtending systems.
- Provides instructions for installing the Cisco DSL Manager, Release 3.2, software application.
- Describes how to install and upgrade to Release 5.0 on MS Windows, Sun Solaris, HP-UX, and IBM AIX platforms, intended for system installers and operators.
- Describes how to set up and configure the Network Registrar DNS and DHCP servers, intended for system administrators and network managers.
- Describes the nrcmd command line interface program, including commands, batch files, and extensions, intended for system administrators and network managers.
- Describes new installation and upgrade requirements, software features, and changes to the related documentation for Network Registrar Release 5.0.
- Describes the installation, configuration and running of the ONS 15190 IP Transport Concentrator (formerly the PentaCom RingStar8000)
- Version 2.5 Release Notes for the ONS 15190 IP Transport Concentrator
- Provides installation procedures for Catalyst 8540 route processors, switch processors and interface modules. Newly added to this edition are installation procedures and information about the Two-port Enhanced Gigabit Ethernet Interface Module, the Layer 3 Enabled ATM OC-3c or OC-12c Uplink Interface Module, and the OC-12c Packet over SONET (POS) Uplink Interface Module.
- Provides installation procedures for the Catalyst 8510 route processor and interface modules. Newly added to this edition are the installation procedures and information about the ACL daughter card.
- Summarizes hardware installation procedures, LEDs, distance and pinout specifications, and compliancy guidelines. Newly added to this edition are regulatory compliance specifications and complete interface module and port adapter information.
- The Gigabit Ethernet Port Adapter (GEPA) is a single-port fixed port adapter that, when combined with the appropriate optical fiber cable, provides one 1000-Mbps Gigabit Ethernet interface that complies with IEEE 802.3z specifications.
- Presents caveats and open issues for the Cisco 677i and Cisco 677i-DIR ADSL over ISDN routers.
- Provides regulatory compliance and safety information for the Cisco 677i and Cisco 677i-DIR ADSL over ISDN routers.
- Provides step-by-step procedures for installing the Cisco 677 ADSL DMT Router, Cisco 677i and Cisco 677i-DIR ADSL over ISDN routers.
- Provides an illustration showing the relationship and recommended order to use the VPN Solutions Center 1.2 documentation set.
- Shows service providers how to set up the MPLS VPN environment for the VPN Solutions Center product, how to create and provision MPLS VPNs service requests, and how to monitor MPLS VPN performance. This guide also describes how to provision cable services through the VPN Solutions Center product and provides troubleshooting information and configuration file examples.
- The API Programmer Guide is a technical resource for programmers. Use of the APIs that this book supports requires familiarity with the Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) and the Interface Definition Language (IDL) as defined by the OMG (Object Management Group).
- Lists the hardware and the minimum software and FPGA image requirements supported on the Catalyst 8500 and LightStream 1010 platforms.
- Provides troubleshooting instructions for the Catalyst 8540 MSR, Catalyst 8510 MSR, and LightStream 1010 ATM switch routers and is intended for experienced network administrators who are responsible for troubleshooting ATM switch router problems.
- Describes further enhancements to the Node Route ProcessorService Selection Gateway (NRP-SSG) feature.
- Describes modifications to the show controllers atm privileged EXEC command for the Cisco 6400.
- Describes the RADIUS Attribute 8 (Framed-IP-Address) in Access Requests feature.
- Describes enhancements to the IPCP Subnet Mask Support feature on the Cisco 6400.
- Describes how to install and set up Content Flow Monitor 1.1 on Windows 2000 and Windows NT systems.
- Describes how to install and set up Content Flow Monitor 1.1 on Solaris systems.
The following documents have appeared on a prior version of the Cisco Documentation CDs, but are now revised:
- Describes the installation and specifications of the IAD 1101.
- This document is specifically aimed at users of the Cisco IAD1101, but sincethe software is backwards compatible with version 1.3 for the Cisco 6732 and 6705, this docucment can be used with all three products.
- Installation and specifications for the VPN 5001 concentrator.
- Describes how to install the Catalyst 8540 CSR and MSR chassis.
- Describes new features, system requirements, limitations and restrictions, related documentation, service and support, and caveats for Cisco IOS Release 12.1(3)DA.
- Shows you how to install and start the VPN Solutions Center 1.2 software and provides information on troubleshooting the installation.
- Provides a complete reference for service provider administrators using the VPN Solutions Center software. The User Reference provides a detailed description of the VPN Console menus and options, as well as the WatchDog commands. This manual also provides details on scheduling, reports, topology, repository management, and using the csm.properties file.
- Describes the accompanying CORBA IDL-based APIs. Programmers can use these APIs to incorporate Cisco VPN Solutions Center features in source code of third-party network-management software. This adds network-management support for MPLS-based VPN services.
- Provides information on materials included in the product packaging, new features, system recommendations, limitations, problems fixed since Release 1.1, and known problems for the Cisco VPNSC 1.2 product.
- Describes the Layer 3 software features and configurations for the Catalyst 8540 CSR, Catalyst 8510 CSR, and Catalyst 8540 MSR with Layer 3 functionality for the Cisco IOS Release 12.0(10)W5(18).
- Describe the features and caveats for Cisco IOS Release 12.0(10)W5(18c) for the Catalyst 8540 campus switch router (CSR), the Cisco IOS Release 12.0(10)W5(18b) for the Catalyst 8510 CSR, and all previous releases on the Catalyst 8540 CSR and Catalyst 8510 CSR.
- Provides an introduction to the concepts and functionality of ATM technology. It provides descriptions of ATM networking applications and examples of their use, and overviews of configuring features on the Catalyst 8540 MSR, Catalyst 8510 MSR, and LightStream 1010 ATM switch routers.
- Provides complete configuration instructions for the Catalyst 8540 MSR, Catalyst 8510 MSR, and LightStream 1010 ATM switch routers. This publication is intended for experienced network administrators who are responsible for configuring and maintaining the ATM switch router.
